last of the brookfield exhibit as its novelty has worn off for me.
today (friday) was a crazy day. i was supposed to have lunch with a lady but she didn't show up nary a phone call, too. but i ended up having lunch with the young miss at the office who shares name with me and she's a very pleasant girl to be with so that made up for the no-show lunch.
then when i came back to the office, i had messages on my phone from my friend who's visiting from germany. she left me a rather panicky message saying that they were in a situation so i should cancel my hotel reservation. i was rather looking forward to staying at the westin harbour castle as i've reserved a room high up facing the sunrise over the lake. i thought of just going by myself but i balked at the $220 plus tax that i'd be paying so i called the hotel to see if i could do a late cancellation. they were quick to do so without any penalty when i received another message saying the situation was sort of resolved. when i called the hotel, the lowest rate they have available was $550. only then did it occur to me that it was mother's day weekend and they were probably happy that i cancelled and they could sell the room for more than what i had to pay for.
then the friend called, apparently they were in toronto and the situation happened here in toronto. in the end, i was lucky to get a room at the hilton garden inn where her daughter was going to stay anyway for a much lower rate.
and that's why i am now rather behind in my posting. and commenting!
Goodness. That all sounds rather disruptive and complicated. What a messed up weekend you are having. I'm behind in both too - but that is because I actually have been meeting up with my girl friends.
Now - these half and half exhibits. I think I might have been trying to over intellectualise them and finding connections that were never meant to be. Who knows. You certainly got me thinking,
That all sounds very complicated, but so long as you get to see your friend all's well that ends well, I guess. Pity about your lunchtime friend's no-show though.
