it was a perfect summer morning by summerfield

it was a perfect summer morning

with a reasonable 20 degrees temperature and a pleasant breeze. well, almost, except that i had to go to work. perfect day for a walk to work, too. well, i was forced to walk, as someone once again jumped on to the track and the subway service was suspended.

i had started out earlier than usual as i planned to take a nice breakfast before going to the office. only my plan was foiled by that someone. we were sitting on the train for fifteen minutes before the announcement confirmed that the service was suspended. but i was only five subway stops away so i thought i'd be smart and walk down a block and either take a short cab ride or wait for a bus. the walk was pleasant enough and then in the distance i saw a bus coming so i waited at the next stop. murphy's law, it being the tail end of the morning rush hour, bus was full. nevertheless, i got in but there was a family of four behind me with a young kid who insisted on getting on the bus. the kid was really uncomfortable being jostled on by the other people who boarded after them and started to whine. plus the smells of the people around me reminded me why i come to work later -- so i don't have to get on crowded buses or trains. at the next stop, there was an elderly couple who begged to get on as they had a hospital appointment. nobody was budging, so i jostled my way out. i suppose one body less would help out the little kid and get the elderly couple on. only of course, some stupid idiots saw that i got off so they thought there's space and got on, squeezing against the elderly couple.

it was a nice and pleasant walk, except i was hungry and i couldn't find a tim horton's coffee shop. i had resolved to make a concession and stop at a starbucks if i see one. but no, that murphy did another number on me and the only one i passed by on the way (with or without me crossing to the other side of the street) was a seven-eleven. i didn't even know they were still in operation.

on the walk down, i passed by our city hall plaza and stopped for a moment, sat down on a bench and was about the curse my day when i looked up and saw this view. duh! take out the camera, summerfield!

i took artistic license to clone out the ugly big sheraton hotel from this shot; and cropped a bit of the bottom and an ugly thing on the right.

Absolute bummer about the transport hassles and the caffeine-deficiencies. I absolutely hate crowds wherever! I like the shot though, your cloning has worked a treat.

What a pretty spot to stop for a break! Is this what they call Nathan Phillips Square?
I hope you get more album cover entries - unfortunately I can't this week.
