supper tonight by summerfield

supper tonight

grilled pinwheel salmon and steamed asparagus with a tiny pat of butter. this work at home is ridiculous and funny at the same time! i had to clean my apartment, especially the part of the living room where i set up my "home work station" -- i'm the janitor. then i had to fix the window -- i'm the maintenance person.

it will be a problem starting tomorrow. the property management is having our balconies renovated. tomorrow they start the swing stage prep and closing our balcony doors from outside. i tried my best to seal the windows as they said there will be a lot of dust. i may have to move my "work station" to my bedroom. i tried to tidy up the spare room but there's just too many shit i just gave up. it will be a problem to work from home when drilling started not only for the noise pollution but the dust as well. so, now it's got me depressed, coupled with all the news about the pandemic.

i read this morning, over at breakfast of chocolate rice porridge and slices of extra old gouda cheese, about the 1918 spanish flu pandemic. i think history is repeating itself from what i can deduce of the article. only now, we are more informed through social media, but although governments are taking appropriate action, there are people who treat the warnings and the situation rather nonchalantly. in québec, a woman who tested positive and was ordered to stay home ignored the order and was arrested. i was talking last night to my italian friend and she was telling me about the army in italy picking up the dead. today, my sister told me that there was news that says the virus may have been going around since last summer. if people just started to get sick in the beginning of the year, then it's probably true that the gestation period of this virus, once contracted, is four to six months.

in the article i read about the 1918 pandemic, medical authorities believed that flu is worse during the winter. but that year the pandemic started in the spring and was present all through the summer. so what people are talking about now that this may last through the whole of summer, is almost similar to what happened more than a hundred years ago.

so i told my sister, that's it. i really don't want to know about any news at all -- it's either someone got killed or it's about covid-19. i'll just stay here in my little corner of the world and think about what i'm going to have for tomorrow's breakfast.
things are so out of hand here .... take care my friend ... now what do I want for breakfast?

Breakfast sounds disgusting, super looks delicious.

Surely renovations should stop before it starts?

Oh that looks yummy. We are finding it pretty easy to self isolate right now with our semi nomadic lifestyle.

It sounds like we may be in this for a bit longer than we expected. I sure hope you can get out of your apartment occasionally and get some fresh air and sunshine. I realize it is much more difficult in the city than here in a rural setting but I think some fresh air and sunshine is important for mind, body and soul!
