i like to give gifts, especially to those i love and like, especially people who go a step further to help out. there's a lady in the office who prepares my client's invoices. i wanted to show her how much i appreciate her help but chocolates are so cliché. so one day i phoned her extension and asked her "red or white?" she obviously was puzzled by my question as she didn't answer right away. then she picked up on it and said "white". so i went down to the liquor store and got her a vintage bottle of sancerre. when i handed her the bag, she peeked inside and looked up with a big smile on her face.
i like wrapping gifts. it's the one thing that really gives you a feeling of Christmas and good cheer. the shiny paper, the sparkly ribbons, the glittery labels. when the son was a young boy, we had a Christmas when the tree which was as tall as i was at the time was dwarfed by the many gifts i had secretly stashed and wrapped in my bedroom or at the office. children are the best gift recipients.
Your story reminds me of the Xmas Tree which needed presents under - so I wrapped up empty boxes. It did look good and fortunately there were no children expecting presents at that time!
Beautifully festive looking gift bags! Giving gifts is so much fun. However, I have resorted to gift cards as well because as the grands have aged it’s so difficult to know what they want. Color, size fashion, all elusive concepts to me anymore! Better to give them money so they can buy exactly what they want instead of sending them a gift that they never use. Your photo is helping put me in the spirit!
