seen on the sidewalk near my sister's building downtown. while the two end pairs look somewhat intact, the middle pair's right foot seems broken. this must've been left by someone in case it's of use or interest to any of the homeless, sorry, unhoused people roaming around the area. no high heeled shoes though.
a few months ago, i encountered a guy whose clothes were severely tattered and dirty but he was wearing red stiletto heeled shoes, asking passersby for spare change. everyone was just looking at his feet with bemused expression. would've been a great shot, but i didn't want anymore humiliation for his situation. that, and besides he might ask for money and since i don't carry cash with me, he might get violent.
Funny. I hate the thought of having to remove my shoes at the door when I go some place (but appreciate the reason that request is made). I can't imagine leaving my shoes outside.
