"California" by summerfield

"California"

page 114, The Man Who Loved Books Too Much by Allison Hoover Bartlett

the word i chose for today in the fifth line is "California". why? because, again, the other words in the line are quite difficult to interpret by photos. well, perhaps not so if i was so inclined, but it's been a long week for me. so "California" it is. i could've photographed a bottle of California wine but there's none in the house as i rarely ever get California wine - i prefer Canadian wine in lieu of Italian or French wines.

in any case, in a month's time, i will be flying down to san francisco, California, where one of my dearest friends live with her husband and children, and from there we shall take a flight to manila. we'll stay there for about 3 weeks, i to try to sort out family matters, and she to go wild ballroom dancing because she loves to dance.

i will probably catch up with some old friends and high school buddies and meet up with two or three of my 365 friends who live there - @the_urstoff , @altadc , @gbert204955 and whoever else are in there. and who knows, maybe i'll mosey on down to australia since it's just a stone's throw.

(map is from the book "The Times Atlas of the World, New Reference Edition)
WOW -- what great adventures you are about to have!!!! I have a very dear friend in SanFran as well -- one from high school that I just reconnected with about 6 months ago and we have become inseparable (making up for lost years!) At any rate -- sounds like a wonderful time awaiting you! Pictures from Australia would be good -- !! Go for it!

Love the way that you angled and processed this one, summerfield. I meant to ask earlier . .is that a good book, "The Man Who Love Books Too Much?"

Really nice shot of the map. I like the angle, and the lovely colours. Maps always fascinate me :) I hope your adventure goes well too!

@cscecil - my friend and i make it a point to at least see each other once a year. we don't talk that often on the phone anymore but we somehow know how the other feels, it's amazing. almost like mental telepathy. i have one of my best pals in high school in san francisco, too. recently, we found another best pal in high school and i will be seeing her in manila when i come visit in november. thanks for your comments, CS. always appreciate it.

@karenann - in august when i did the novels challenge, i reviewed this book (see: http://365project.org/summerfield/365/2011-08-05). it is not a novel, though; it is a true story of a book thief and the guy who was after him. the book is very interesting and it is a good book. thanks so much, karenann.

@alia_801 - thank you, alia. i think i will have to switch books as this book is giving me grief. i always end up with the word collectors or books. way into the 15th line part, there is the word 'shoes' which is wayyy easy to do. :-) thank you, alia.

@catsmeowb - i'm not really sure if i can swing australia during this trip as it will depend on a number of variables for me to be able to do it. but i would love to go there again. i was there many years ago on a tag-along business trip with my first mr. summerfield. my visit really is to wrap up some arrangements for my father who is ailing and my autistic brother. it would probably be my last visit if anything. the old bones can travel that long in a cramped airplane seat. thanks so much for your comments, camille. it is always appreciated.

You made a map look pretty! Like the double mirror frame. Sounds like quite a journey you are about to undertake. Enjoy and travel safe. Will you be on 365 while gone?

@espyetta - it's true; come to think of it, that map looks nice to look at! i always associate california with earthquake. i will try to be on 365 while i'm away but there might be a couple of days when i'd be invisible. thanks, MB.

@danig - ah, finally, you made it here, my friend. i missed you and your photos. are you back in port fairy, home of the magic wand?

@patticake - well, you used to traverse the world in a ship so i would think that a map would be a fascination for you. i, too, love looking at maps. and now, i just remembered that i've been wanting to get me a globe, to show the grandsons where manila, paris, london, edinburgh and australia are and how far they are from canada. thank you, patti.

@altadc - really looking forward to meeting you, kiddos. have you passed on my e-mail address to the chat-man? thanks, alta.
