manila bay

a conversation

he stands behind her, keeping watch, just in case someone has the idea to snatch her little nikon camera.

"the landscape has changed so much. i don't recognize any of these."
"you haven't changed."
"no, i haven't changed. have you?"
"i haven't. i still feel the same."
she turns around and looks at him.
"no, you still look exactly the way you were when..."
she faces the sea again, snapping at the scenery.
"i've been in love with you for forever."
her camera clicks. she turns around again, smiling this time.
"sorry, i didn't hear. what was that you last said?"
"that was a pretty neat shot."
she smiles. presses the 'review' button and shows him the last shot. (above)
he stares at her. she pockets her camera and they start to jog.
she faces him, running backwards.
"i will never stop loving you."
"have a good flight tomorrow."
"i will miss this."
"i will miss you."
"you will live."
"and you."
"like always, my friend. like always."
Awwee. You write so well and the photo is great. I trust this is to be continued.

And then she turns to go . . leaving part of herself at Manila Bay!! Ah, summerfield. You have so much to tell us. :)
December 12th, 2011
@olivetreeann - i swear the water has a distinct sound different from any other that i've been to or seen. maybe because i was always there as a young child - my parents would make us walk to the sea side (loing before the reclamation project) every sunday! thank you, ann.

@karenann - haha! the conversation was actually much longer than that. i saw this and i remembered. i lost only 7 lbs. from those early morning jogs. but i'm not complaining! thank you, karenann. :-)

VERY interesting story you post! Was this in the long ago past or more recently? The city looks so clean and WHITE..I love that! The water so calm! Unlike the undercurrents in that conversation up there.
December 13th, 2011
great snap...big story.
December 13th, 2011
@espyetta - the city for the most part is clean. the barriers were being repaired as they had a really bad flooding several weeks ago and the barriers were severely damaged. this was taken on my last day in manila, during my vacation.

there are no undercurrents whatsoever :-) all chips are on the table: every time we see each other, we fall in love all over again. first love never dies, but it's a love that cannot be and we know it, everyone who knows knows it. he's a very smart man that is why we instantly connect every time we see each other. wife is still jealous after all these years but knows i mean no harm; she does not want to be totally friends with me but she knows i understand how she feels. i don't force her to be friends with me but i do treat her with respect. we do talk, and she was with us most days when we jogged. his family including his children (and especially his late mother) love me. he would've been my one and only mr. summerfield had life not got in the way. thank you, MB.

@summerfield That is good that you guys all know what is going on, deal with it in a mature and healthy way, and move on. Life...it can get in the way, but it usually gives us other good "life stuff" to keep us entertained.

@danig - you should've been there, mate. you could've taken a photo of me taking a photo of this with the him beside the me. thank you, DG.

Sue
love the conversation, leave me hanging for more now...nice how you tied both together...interesting idea...you have inspired me..I think any attempt I make of doing something like this would be more on a comical note..I don't do well with romance, but you!! your very good at it
December 14th, 2011
@roth - that was part of the conversation taking place as i snapped at the scenery while taking a break from jogging. he was my first love, the man who inspired me to put emotions into paper when we were very young people still. do something similar, why don't you? comical is good. i was trying to be funny, but i guess you have to see the characters, because we were always laughing and giggling. yup, two old people giggling! :-) thank you, sue.
December 14th, 2011
@summerfield welll yes I could. hang on I'm confused. oh nah I got it now. yep, all ok...
December 15th, 2011
