not quite the effect or perspective i wanted, but that's what happens when you're not inspired to do anything. what did they say in the newspapers today: that today is blue monday. oh, well, it turns out the dominant colour in this photo is blue. i've been lugging this vase, along with a few other stuff, everywhere i lived. so, about time i have a use for it aside from collecting dust on my shelf. but i'm still playing with it so this just might appear on here again this week.
gheez! this is worse than writer's block.
update: how do i get rid of those light reflections on the neck of the vase? i don't like them in there! i tried processing it off but wouldn't work.
This looks so FRENCH! Lovely vibrant colors and pov. Looks like a painting, summerfield. This doesn't look like "photographer's block" to me. Your background is gorgeous too.
I do like the blue velvet, in the back it blends in a little. As far as the reflections- I'd clone them out. But the other option would be to diffuse the light source.
Beautiful vase, and lovely still life composition. I don't know how you could edit out the light (perhaps look for a 'highlight' function?). Someone gave me the handy tip of putting a piece of paper or tissue in front of the flash to diffuse it and avoid bright highlights, but you have to do that at the 'taking' stage).
Very nice composition. I like the background looks black behind the vase and the contrast colors of the pears. I think it would be the diffuse the light theory because cloning would be harder.
my first impression was 'still life painting' - i really enjoy your color combinations and how they combine and contrast. have you tried using a different light source, pehaps a soft one, from a different angles?
I really like the blue velvet backdrop. The colors are beautiful & this worked out well IMO. I'm not sure what other people do to edit out the reflections. I don't have a lot of fancy software. The cabin pic I have had a huge sign that also cast a huge shadow on it. So I put the pic in Paint brush & copied & pasted other sections of the pic & pasted right over it. I think if you have a clone option in your software you could just cover up the reflections.
@olivetreeann - thank you, ann. i tried cloning but because there are patterns on the surface, i couldn't quite match them and it turned out crappy. but i'm still playing with it so the same photo just might make another appearance.
@alia_801 - thank you, alia. i'm playing with different lighting. i also tried putting a coloured bottle in front of the flash to get different effects. we'll see.
@catsmeowb - i will recreate this on the weekend, and will play with different light settings, my lighting fixtures just might get revamped. this hobby is getting to be really expensive. hahaha. thank you, camille.
@sunnygreenwood - the vase was given to me by an old flame a long time ago. i didn't like it then but brought it with me everywhere i lived and now i'm having a use for it. isn't that nice? thank you, anne.
@patticake - i'm done patting myself on the back over this one. kidding! i think i'll adjust the colour tone to make it milder. i'm planning on having it printed and framed for my wall. think it is about time i have one of my photos on the wall. thank you, patti.
