artist / adieu by summerfield

artist / adieu

it's been a blast with the april A challenge. but all good things must come to an end at some point so here we are at the end of april.

last saturday, i sat in the car waiting for partner to do a delivery from one of the industrial shops outside toronto. the sky was a beautiful blue but there was no vegetation around and all i could see was grey bricks and concrete walls. remembering the dupain artist challenge, i took some photos of the buildings. this caught my eye, wondering what it was. this angle was a last minute choice, as i had visions of this falling on me, especially with the wind blowing. this looks pretty in colour, with that vivid blue sky. but remembering the challenge, i changed the setting of my canon to black and white. it is amazing how perspectives change in one single press of a button.

i didn't know what this was until i showed it to partner who said it was a fire escape. it made sense to me then. all the other adjoining buildings had them. so here's to you, mr. dupain.

and to my friends, thank you for sticking it out with me on this challenge; i appreciate all of your comments and support. while some endings would have the protagonist walking into the sunset, i bid you "adieu" as i climb my way up the ladder into the blue sky yonder.
Fantastic composition - I love the lines and perspective. Nice in B&W too :)
