berni crumb @bernicrumb is my challenger this week and she issued me the following push: "I challenge you to also do a collage. Select a book or magazine or comic book--or even an e-reader that has a book visible on the display--and make a collage using at least four different photo styles/white balance effects and four different perspectives of the book. If you can, use your camera settings to create the different photo styles/white balance settings, but using an editing program is okay."
for the book, i chose partner's mom's old bible which i have featured in this album sometime in early may this year. the book is about 130 years old as it belonged to her grandmother (partner's great grandmother). it has a zipper where the cross is attached and is bound in leather. the book also features photos of paintings depicting scenes from the bible.
the upper left photo was shot in colour auto white balance and processed in ribbet using the infrared film effect.
the upper right photo was shot in colour using tungsten white balance in camera and processed in ribbet using the invert efffect.
the lower left photo was taken with the WB of the camera set in 'shade'. (sooc)
the lower right photo was taken with the WB of the camera set in auto. (sooc)
whew! i hope she's happy with this!
thank you, ladies and gentlemen, for your views and comments; know that they are greatly appreciated.
Interesting that they all compliment one another but were shot or processed in very different ways. Good job!! I particularly like the upper right hand one.
Of course, I shouldn't be surprised, because I can use that adjective about practically all of your pictures that I've seen so far.
Thank you for issuing me the 0 to 9 challenge. I had a lot of fun with it and learned something new in how I look for pictures to take. I hope you enjoyed this challenge as much as I enjoy looking at the final outcome!
fantastic. perfect use of the mirror frame and each shot would stand on its own but the collage is terrific. the collage choice for you, of books, was ideal. love this.
@bernicrumb - thank you, berni. i was both sure and unsure that this was what you wanted. but as you can see, i don't turn away from a challenge as long as i know i can do it. thank you for this. and i'm glad you enjoyed the challenge i gave you.
@catsmeowb - thank you, camille. i must've made at least 50 shots of the book, if it could talk it would've whacked me in the head. hahaha! i didn't think there could be so many ways to photograph just one book alone.
@karenann - hi there, KA. always nice to have you around. the choice of book to photograph was between this and the shakespeare book, but this won because i wanted to read the psalm 139. that psalm always keeps me on my toes. thank you, KA.
@henrir - thank you, henri. the framing is called 'mirror frame' you can find it in ipiccy or ribbet and i think picmonkey has this style of frame, too.

@alia_801 - thank you, my friend. i'm so glad you approve, too.
@eniaral - yay! thank you, laraine.
