get-pushed #40

my get pushed partner this week, jan hall @jantan asked me to do "some other kind of motion blur". i was going to cop out and ask for another push, but there's a funny story about this photo.

tonight i was trying to improve on the 'low key' shot from last week. i had taken so many shots of the poor baseball but i just couldn't get the right exposure and effect that i wanted. i had just pressed the camera's shutter when partner opened the door; probably due to air pressure and my sudden movement, the ball rolled off the table and the camera, which was on top of a book (i was lazy to reach and prop up the tripod) and propped with a small toy, moved, or the toy moved thus making the camera to move a little bit, too. then i pushed the ball back and it rolled off again so i flicked it to stay on the spot where i wanted it, teetered a bit but finally stayed put. all this while the camera was on long exposure. i was a tad pissed at what happened that when i looked at the shot, my first instinct was to delete it, but i thought better. :-)
@jantan - here's my response to your push; is this good enough for you?

Very cool! It reminds of those stop action photos they put together to analyze the Olympic divers. Except this one is low key and uses a baseball!
