We took the grandkids to the NAC to see Mamma Mia. Part of the fun was checking out in detail, this hexagon staircase. We climbed from bottom to top and back down again, just for the fun of it ... their fun, not mine. ;-).
The glass sculpture, "Crystal DNA", was designed by William Martin. There is one in each of the 5 public hexagon stairways. The NAC building itself is also based on the hexagon shape.
Wow! Crystal DNA . . beautifully done and great capture of this, Anne. Love the angle and pov. Not sure that I could have climbed all of those steps tho! :)
This photo made me look, and look, and look, so I can see why the grandchildren were so fascinated. You framed this so beautifully, Anne. Sorry about all those stairs...but I'm happy you all had such a great time.
Hi Anne - If you hadn't told me what that was, I never would have guessed. The colors are great, the sparkle and the ruby red - stunning. Looks a little like rock candy.
@beautifulplanet show was great! Barry and I saw it at the nac a couple of years ago. this it the first time the kids have seen it there tho. A night to remember. Wil knows all the songs and dance moves from the movie ... was fun to watch her.
@hillcrest there were actually a few people but they were close to the sides, not the centre, so you can't see them. i was leaning quite far out too, to get as close to the centre as I could. I wanted to get some stairs showing all the way down but didn't quite get it. Thanks so much for your continued support and kind comments. Love hearing from you.
Perfect angle to make these hexagonals line up so pleasingly! And the crystals hanging down...in contrast to the dark wood. Another fav! I love this. Good to spot it!
