The Dark Eyed Junko hangs out at our deck a lot. It's not as photogenic as the other visitors, like the jays, chickadees, and woodpeckers, etc so I was happy to get this full-on sun pic ... it gives the grey coat a little definition and almost a brown tinge. Sun power!
Hope you are all recuperating peacefully after a busy Christmas. For those of you still in the thick of things, enjoy! I'm way behind in viewing your pics and didn't get a chance to personally wish you all a timely Merry Christmas. Both Barry and I send all our 365 friends warm greetings for a wonderful holiday season!
You are getting some great closeups of birds. I can't seem to figure out how to set my camera for such a low iso so I can get such detail. I might have to resort to reading the manuel.. LOL
Oh, this is great because junkos are hard to get on camera so you can see their eyes....they usually appear to just be a dark blob around the head. I can see every feather and I love the "from the rear" angle too. Fav!
Wonderful shot, Anne! He must have his feathers all fluffed up, as he looks pretty chubby! Also looks like he's trying to say something, like, "Bring more food!" Hope you had a wonderful Christmas!
That is the fattest, most healthy bird I have ever seen. You capture the most wonderful specimens. We had a great Christmas; glad you didn't have time to comment, that means you were happily busy.
Wonderful Capture! Like the close up of the Junco. I did not realize how brown they are like this post. Most I see at my feeders are very dark gray or charcoal. Great shot, Anne!
