Hummingbird Moth

photo 486
After seeing several pics here at 365 of Hummingbird Moths, I finally saw one in person and even better, I had the camera handy.

It's also known as a Common Clearwing (Hemaris thysbe) [of the Sphinx moth family]. It's eating at a Butterfly Bush/Buddleia "Nanho Blue". Here's a link, if anyone's interesting in reading about them: http://www.massaudubon.org/Nature_Connection/wildlife/index.php?subject=Insects&id=5

Many thanks for dropping by and for all your awesome comments and favs yesterday.

Excellent Anne! I remember the first time I saw one at my mom's garden. We thought it was a science experiment that went wrong - such an odd looking moth.
