Tiger Swallowtail Time by sunnygreenwood

Tiger Swallowtail Time

Not a great pic to show the wing pattern but I didn't have many to choose from! This darn butterfly touched every bloom in the yard and I still couldn't get a good shot. I'm including it for the record books to know when they arrived this year. Going back in 365 I see it was a window of two or three days at the end of May each year except one when it was June 10.
Many thanks for dropping by.
Bep

Beautifully captured.

@gijsje thanks bep! It's just a little marigold. I bought some for a bit of warm yellow colour in a relatively bare spring garden and it turns out the butterflies really like them.

@sunnygreenwood
Thanks. I should have recognized it. We know it as goudsbloem. Goud = gold, and bloem = flower.

How fun to have them back. Nice clarity on your butterfly - saw (but he stayed just a few seconds) my first in the yard today - a zebra swallowtail. Maybe the usuals will start appearing soon. I'm glad to hear about butterflies liking the marigolds.

At least you did get a capture, and I think it's a pretty good one, with great focus and dof. I've been seeing quite a few of them around here, but had no luck getting a picture.
