Mourning Dove by sunnygreenwood

Mourning Dove

We hadn't noticed mourning doves around for a while and then this one showed up. I like their get-along-with-everyone manner. Maybe that contributes to their long life span. According to the Cornell birding site, "the oldest known Mourning Dove was a male, and at least 30 years, 4 months old when he was shot in Florida in 1998".
Ooh, great find

Hadn't thought about that correlation - but could be true! They sure do seem to be peaceful to all.

Lovely capture of this sweet dove. Pity that the 30year+ old dove lost its life in that manner.

Beautiful. They are always here in my yard, usually two, but occasionally a flock of 8 or 9
