Downy woodpeckers like suet, black oil sunflower seeds, millet, peanuts, and chunky peanut butter. According to the Cornell birding site, they will occasionally drink from oriole and hummingbird feeders. I'd love to see that!
Beautiful shot with the snow and tree bark - like a split screen. My little Downys drink from the Hummingbird feeder in the summer. Always wondered if it's good for them.
Such a wonderful capture of this beautiful woodpecker. I just ordered suet and black oil sunflower seeds. I'm prepping for The Great Backyard Bird Count in two weeks.
