It´s better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all
My get-pushed challenge from @lindseying was to use a diptych to tell a story. So here´s the story, I think it needs no words.
Young people, gotta love them, they don´t care if I put their faces on internet.
I´m sorry for my absence, I´ve been sick but I´m better now. Thank you for all those concerns about my health. I´m so behind on commenting but will catch up with you this evening. I can´t wait to see what you all have been doing.
Loss is always going to be sad, but it seems the higher you fly the further you have to fall, and the two in the first section seem to be flying very high indeed.
Makes me think of a storyboard in a movie. Two shots is not much to tell a story, but you really did it. Clever use of the rose to pull the two shots together.
@kaesebiscuit Thank you G, Yes the girl is a daughter of one of my friend and her boyfried. The story of course is totally staged, the bf did not die, we didn´t hurt him, lol. She has done some real modeling when she was a child, they still use some of those early pics on advertising campaings. Anyway her modelling experience was a big help here, she did everything that was asked and no questions ask. This was a consept I always knew, right from the start of this project, that I would someday go into but needless to say I really really don´t like this!
@janim Oh you noticed the rose! Yes, it was the idea; the same kind of rose in both shots. I only hoped I could have had white roses but had to settle for pink ones,no flowershops were open and there only were pink ones at Prisma. Isin´t that what you always tell me, that I sould let the viewer´s imagination fill the caps, so I´m not sure what I would have done with more frames here.....and that missing third pic on the middle is really something I wouldn´t dare to go into.
@susale@janim I saw the rose too, but you two talking about it makes me wonder if it wouldn't be possible to use clever positioning to really link the two photos - have it stretch from the grave scene on the right, just seeing the stalk, across the divide, into the "before" shot. Is it still a diptych if you do that?
Nice to know you didn't have to kill any of your models, S. :) I wasn't even sure the girl in the second "half" was the same as the one in the first, since she's not face on, and her hair is different.
Glad you are feeling better and great to see you back. You do like to tug at the heartstrings! Wonderful diptych, love the colour and mono to bring out the emotions too. Superb.
The contrast in mood is emphasized by the contrast between warm colour and b&w. The young people you photographed are beautiful enough to be models. Very effective.
Wow -- this is really outstanding! You're telling such a sad story (whatever the supposed reason for the solitary figure in scene 2) and it works solely through the images. Well done!
@summerfield Thank you for the challenge, I will try this most def. I don´t have access to those kind of light traisl as I don´t live in a big city but we´ll see what I can come by...
This is great storytellling. I like the change of hairstyle - loose hair is often associated with youth in various cultures or periods of history - and having the young lady's hair tied back in the second image makes me think of the passage of time, and loss of innocence - through having to deal with the loss of a loved one in this case.
Well portrayed story!
Take care... good to hear your feeling better.

Are these people you know?
