I´m sorry for this very dark pic but it fits my mood. I think I´m suffering from Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) - I´m so depressed! It´s this damn darkness; it´s total 6 hours of day but no sunlight, only greyness - why they even bother to call it a day!
I agree, getting through Jan/Feb is the worst - I'm looking forward to the glorious long days in June !! Hope you're ok - the shot is gorgeous and very fitting
@joemuli Not to worry, it's okey, I'm used to this and this will pass. Thank you for your
comment & fav, they make me smile.Tomorrow is a new day and who knows the sun might even shine;-)
Sad to think you are feeling so down. Won't be long, the days are lengthening already. I am sick of all the wet, muddy, dark dog walks I have to do at the moment. Roll on spring!
I hear you girl...it is dark all day here too! You think it is 8pm at noon! :). Too bad you can't go somewhere:)! This is fabulous, fascinating and a fav!
This is a very moving image. I wish I could transport you here...Of course that is why we are here. We don't have darkness so much at home..but very grey and damp. I need the sun, more for how it makes everything so bright a pretty then the warmth. BUt the warmth is a big bonus. Wishing you brighter and sunnier days soon my friend!! :) :)
Suse, this is a really dramatic shot that conveys your emotions so well. It's wonderful to have this as a way to express yourself and you are so talented! I hope that you can push through this -- spring is coming in just a few months!
It's a lovely shot, Suse and the processing is terrific. Here in the Seattle area we have the rainy grey days too. Spring is on the way - before too long, crocus and other spring flowers will be pushing up through the soil to brighten the days.
@taffy Thank you Taffy for your kind words! Yes it´ll be okey, I have this same thing pretty much every winter at some point cos of the darkness, days are so short here at this time of the year. It´s worse this year thou cos there´s no snow and it´s been raining so much. I usually spent few weeks in a sun during this time a year but this year Í can´t travel cos I have no vacation left, so I should now be packing for Thailand or something or at least preparing to travel but instead I´m stuck here in this darkness, sign.
@eyesmile Thank you my friend, I wish I could come there too or anywhere to see the sun. I long to see the sun and few weeks in a sun makes all the difference but this winter I haven´t got the oppurtunity to travel to the sun.
@mercuria Thank you ariel, yes I have one of those light thingys, I´ve never found them very helpful but it´ll be better soon, the nights are getting shorter indeed and it will be a whole lot lighter in a month or so.
@alia_801 I´m so in, let´s swap;-)! But I must warm you, we are not having the usual winter here in Finland; there´s no snow only rain so it does not feel like a real winter and to be honest, I couldn´t swap something this bad into something so great as I bet you´re having..so maybe I just try to find my doze of sun and colours by watching your pics :)
@janim Jepulis....tartteekin tuubettaa Hot. Toisaalta ei siinä oo mitään pahaa välillä vähän synkistellä, osaa sit taas arvosta niitä hyviäkin fiilareita ihan eri tavalla. Pitää hyväksyä kaikki puolet itsessään ja mulle vaan on luotu tää "synkistelyn lahja" = kyky tuntea asiat vahvasti, hyvässä tai pahassa, joten näillä mennään, kyl se täst taas iloks muuttuu, ei huolta .)
@susale Trust me, I loathe summer and would happily take your winter - rain, snow or generally grey... It's 35C here today, and sticky with it. The temperature is going to go up into the 40s in the next couple of days - bleugh!
@alia_801 Oh I´d happyly swap our +5 and rain to that, +35 sounds hevenly. Yeah I know, it gets old pretty fast, and +40 is just insane. I remember one trip when we had +40 almost the week , oh it was horrible, it was too hot to do anything during the days. We had a rental car with air conditioning and we just drove pretty much the whole day, running through all the sightseeings, lol. But like wise, many weeks with this is weather takes it toll on persn too and soon becomes too many.
@kaesebiscuit Oh sorry that you lost the sun but haven´t seen it here either, I think it went down to Australia ;-) Missed you last night, are you avoiding me mr B ;-)
Very cool - perfect words and image! I can totally relate - usually get SAD in the winter but we've been pretty bright over in Ontario this winter. Instead of the darkness it's the ice and snow and whiteout driving conditions that are getting to everyone! I think we took the Finnish winter and combined it with the Canadian one. I know my mummu would be shaking her head saying I don't have enough 'sisu' but I'm a spring person! ;)
Fantastic shot and love the dramatic and dark mood it stirs up. I am really sorry to hear you have SAD I get it as soon as winter comes around. Hope your mood picks up soon.
I love the dark tone of this shot... I totally understand the season getting to you... I am definitely more a summer person! The days are drawing out again now though! =)
I hope my fav cheered you up! I do hope you are able to take in some of that daylight. I also have SAD. I bought a miniature Palm Tree Plant and one of those UV lights. I also try to keep active. It helps the most! Best wishes Suse.
I hope you feel better ... but the good part is ... I could sense your feeling even without reading your words ... so I guess you succeeded in telling a story with your pic ...superb shot ..very moody as said above!!
comment & fav, they make me smile.Tomorrow is a new day and who knows the sun might even shine;-)
I sympathise, but from the opposite perspective. It's summer here and I hate it. I can't wait for winter... Perhaps we should swap!
Have you tried http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5-Hydroxytryptophan it works for friends of mine, and the daylight light bulbs?
Great picture
