I felt bad taking away the colours, so I uploaded the coloured version too. I personally like the colours more but for the mood I felt that I had to remove them.
@amandal It´s milk chocolate, dark would be better of course. I´m afraid I´m too tired to read, I think I make couple comments here and then I hit the bed (it´s 22.00 pm here)
This one certainly creates a much stronger mood and really makes the flower pop...good processing done! In the colour version I felt that the composition is lacking: the flower needs to be placed in a more prominent spot and perhaps needs a closer zoom. In this version it does not really matter that much: the flower is strong enough on it's own!
@ericdibosco Thank you Eric for your great comment, you are right, there was something that didn´t quite work for me in that coloured version and you have just pointed that out, it´s the composition indeed, it´s not the best but as you said, here the flower is somehow stronger so the attention is not drawn to that. I made this b&w too but somehow this sepia tone brought the flower more out, so I choce this one even though I really prefered the b&w for the mood.
FAV. Both this shot and the coloured one are very beautiful. I am not one who goes for monochrome shots but you did such a great job on this one. Hope your mood will improve.
There is a sad lonely feel for sure, especially in this version. The grass is a bit too "defined", and gets a bit distracting.... Maybe you could lighten up the flower and darken down the rest of the picture ? Or do some lensbaby effect thingy ? Vignette ? I think the flower in the middle is a statement, make it stronger! :)
@sangwann Thank you Dione, such a great compliment, wow! It´s really not the mood, it´s a state - I am alone, for now but that does not mean that I´m lonely, I´m not. I´m just alone....but as long as I got chocolate it´s all good :) I wish I had that chocolate egg you fooled us to believe you got for your wife ;)
@janim Thank you Jani, all great suggestions, as your suggestions always are :) Totta, olis voinut käyttää vähän luovaa blurrausta tässä tai jopa sitä lensbaby effectii, se olis voinut vörkkii oikeen hyvinkin tässä. Mut mä luulen, et paras veto olis varmaan just toi valon lisäys tohon kukkaan ja taustan tummennus, mä oikeesti tykkään siitä ajatuksesta, se olis varmaan just sitä mitä mä tässä olisin hakenut, en oo taas vaan muistanut, et sellastakin voi tehä, tarttee ehottomasti testata, kiits :) !
@roseolivia Thank you Rachel, I have a tendency to like both; colours and dark tones, bright & shiny and gloomy & dark -I´m afraid to even speculate what that says about me, lol :) Seriously, we all have our preferences and your work is definitely something I love.
Totally agree with Jani's comment above. Maybe soften the grass a bit more - either way, love the tone and feeling of this isolated little one. Many thanks for the birthday wishes. Actually, birthday doesn't come until the 22nd but I always open my gift early. ;)
@kass Thank you Kass, yes @janim usually is right when it comes to photography...apparently he´s not that good remembering the dates, well at least he got the month right ;-) Well then, I will congratulate you properly when the right day comes, unfortenately I´m not as talented as Jani so I can´t shoot you a flower in your style. So you missed the Taurus sun sign for two days then, I would have loved you to have been one of us ;) but Gemini is allright, I have my rising something in Gemini which, as I´m told, makes me more lively, social and flirty than Taurus usually is...so I guess I´m practically Gemini then :)
I think the amount of space around the flower serves to emphasise its alone-ness. I like the monochrome and it seems to me that the warm tones suggest that being alone is not necessarily a bad thing.
Blue flowers are becoming my favorites, but this just seems to flow so well...I am swept up in the pensive mood and feel of the scene. I'm finding myself drawn to more subdued monochromes ever since I participated in the b/w book club. They seem to convey abstract, interior states of our emotional environments so compellingly, without too much distraction...
@gratefulness Thank you Sandi for all the great comments. I agree with the monochromes, it does seam to convey moods more effectively than colours and I feel that it also freezes time, you get the feel that time stands still.
