Fungus on Horse Chestnut Tree

It's amazing how weird fungus just appears. This is growing on the stump of an old horse chestnut tree in the garden. There's often interesting fungi growing on it at this time of year but I've never seen one like this. I happened to notice it yesterday and today I thought I'd take a photo of it.

Wonderful pov and close-up -- they do look rather like chanterelle mushrooms !! but Sue leave well alone just INCASE !! they do look gorgeous against the moss covered tree trunk !

I like Babs idea of them being stepping stones for fairies. Don't worry Beryl I won't go anywhere near them. You're right they do look a bit like chanterelles but I think they're too big. They're huge.
