It's a bit daunting coming back after an absence of nearly a month. The reason for my absence is that my computer wouldn't connect to the internet. Finally it got fixed yesterday. A lot's been happening though. We're moving! We've stopped doing B&B, we're selling Kilsby and we're moving to a new house near Hereford. Things have happened quickly and my head is spinning. When my laptop stopped working I could have used my ipad but I use my laptop for photos, I'm not used to the ipad and there was too much going on to try doing something I wasn't familiar with.
We've lived here for 18 years and I've been doing B&B and letting out a holiday cottage all that time. I've enjoyed it a lot and I've met a lot of lovely people and made some very good friends but it's time to move on and start a new chapter in our lives. We will miss Kilsby, especially the garden and the birds but I'm very excited about the move. I'll tell you all about the new house when we actually move there. We hope this will be at the beginning of September.
I lost my enthusiasm for photograhy a bit but I have taken some photos. I will gradually fill in the huge gap, but not all at once, I promise, and I will start commenting again. It will make a pleasant change from clearing, sorting and packing boxes.
Lovely image.
Great to hear your news too Sue. You have been busy !
I remember you saying that you would be retiring from B & B. I hope the house move goes well. 18 years is a long time & I'm sure it will feel emotional when it's time to leave Wales. Good luck with the next chapter & keep us posted x
You're retiring! Well I don't blame you it's darn hard work! Time to do other things Sue! We keep going & I must admit still enjoy it although these days I prefer business guests who go early in the morning & stay more than one night! Our time will come but we're still keen! Your place sounds very nice always so you will be missed by your regulars! We have non payers in for a month now ha ha, family!
Beautiful pale pink fuchsia!
Lovely shot, Sue. Bet you are really tired. It's hard work moving house and deciding what to take and what to throw away, especially when you have so much to deal with. Just hope everything goes smoothly. We loved visiting you there and enjoying those wonderful views. Good luck. Remember to be ruthless!
Welcome back Sue :) So much going on in your life, but 365 will be a happy relaxing break from the chores of moving! i missed a month awhile ago but decided to leave it blank rather than fill it in - summed up the time. Fav for your fuchsias!
Lovely to see you back again. How exciting for you. quite a big move after 18 years in one place. Hope your move goes well and you really enjoy your retirement.
Great shot, Glad you are back I am still not posting much at the moment, hope your packing, sorting and moving goes well. What a change after 18 years.
I've missed you. I even looked to see if I'd " lost" you! I too shall miss your garden! New beginnings are always exciting though. Good luck in your new venture, whatever it may be. Beautiful shot of the fuchsia.
@bigmxx Thank you Michelle. It's exciting and scary at the same time.
@dizzyd Thank you Helen for your kind thoughts. I'm looking forward to having more time to do the things I enjoy, like walking, and photography of course. I also want to be able to spend more time with family. Those children are growing up fast.
@happypat I've had enough Pat. I do enjoy meeting all these interesting people and we've made some very good friends but it's such hard work and such a tie. I want to be doing other things. I want to spend more time with my family and friends and I want to be able to spend more time doing photography and getting better at it. I'm very excited about this new adventure.
@foxes37 I'm feeling much better now I'm no longer doing B&B. The people buying our house want to carry on doing what we've been doing so we're leaving all the B&B stuff and everything in the cottage. That makes our lives a lot easier. I'm gradually going through cupboards, drawers etc getting rid of things we don't want. It's very cathartic.
@gilbertwood Thank you Denise. It's an exciting time. Once we've moved and settled we'll start planning our trip to Oz :)
I did think of starting afresh but I have got quite a lot of photos, including the last few days of the children's holiday here so I'll fill in the gaps gradually.
@onewing Thank you Babs. It is exciting and I shall enjoy sharing this new adventure with all my 365 friends. Not a lot is happening at the moment except I'm clearing and sorting and getting rid of stuff we don't want.
@merrelyn Thank you Merrelyn. It's so exciting. Once we've moved (early September hopefully) and settled, we can then start planning the trip to Oz that we've been looking forward to for a long time.
@chimfa Thank you Jane. You're very kind. It is very exciting to be entering this new chapter of our lives. Unfortunately Chris will still have to go to work, he's a bit younger than me and not old enough to retire AND get a pension but life will be easier for both of us and we'll have every weekend together to do what we want instead of having guests to think about, and this very large garden.
@susiemc funnily enough there has been talk here today about a move for us. The old barn we used to milk our cows in has come up for sale so we might be following suit! Our son is encouraging us!
@happypat Go for it Pat! B&B is hard work and I'm sure that like me you have lots of things you'd like to do which you haven't had time to do while you've been cooking breakfasts, changing beds, washing, ironing, cleaning bathrooms etc. Dare I ask how old you are? I know that's a bit rude but I suspect we're similar ages. I'm 68. Time to retire while I still have good health and energy. We're looking forward to planning a trip to Australia to visit relatives and friends.
@susiemc 75 next month Sue! We would like to,release some capitol too as probably like you our house is too big with massive insurance, council tax etc etc. I am excited! Not saying anything yet but no one will see this on your post! Ha ha! I am thinking open plan & underfloor heating!
@nickspicsnz Don't worry Nick, Chris is already planning his new garden. The new house is a new build so the garden is a blank canvas. We have a HUGE number of plants and small (ish) shrubs in pots all ready to move with us. I'll post very regular photos of the new garden so you can see how it develops. The climate will be gentler than here so the garden will be different. Good to see you back fromm time to time. Thanks for the fav's.
Oh wow! what a change for you but I am sure you will enjoy your new home and garden and did you say a trip Down Under! We are visiting family in the UK in September/October. You will have lots of photo opportunities so I look forward to seeing how things develop.
@cruiser Yes Chris this is going to be a BIG change. I will be fully retired for one thing. Once the dust settles, yes, we are planning a trip Down Under. We were there in 1994 and always intended to go back. Chris has family in Melbourne and we have good friends in Adelaide. Am I right in thinking you're from the Adelaide area. I notice some of your recent posts have been taken there. I'll definitely let you know how our plans develop and also the new garden.
If you're anywhere where we could meet for a coffee when you're over in the UK that would be great. We'll either still be here in Mid Wales or we'll have moved to the Hereford area which is about an hour from here. I'll keep you posted.
@susiemc it would be so lovely to meet. Keith says we are going to be around your part of the country and we would love to see you in Adelaide, where do your friends live. Our daughter and grandson live in Melbourne

@gijsje Thank you Bep. You're very kind.
@beryl Thank you Beryl. Everything is in the hands of the solicitors now so we just hope there won't be any problems.
@g3xbm Thanks Rog, it's good to be back.

This is a beautiful soft pink flower.
