I've seen very few goldfinches this year, they just don't seem to have visited the garden. I was very pleased therefore to see this one when we were in Pembrokeshire in May. They're such pretty birds.
Until we started putting out Sunflower Hearts earlier this year, we had never seen them Sue. With a week we had Goldfinches and Longtailed Tits (which we'd also never seen) regularly visiting the feeders.
@phil_sandford Thanks for that information Phil. I just read your comment to Chris and we decided that once we've moved to our new house we'll put out sunflower seeds. I guess we wait until after the winter, or do you put them out all year round? They've always been attracted to nyger seed in the past. It will be interesting to see what kind of birds we attract to our new garden.
