Starling

Most people don't get excited about starlings (including my husband!) I think they're great, especially when they catch the sun. This isn't in our garden but it's only about a couple of hundred metres away, up the hill behind the house. Starlings are endangered so I'm pleased they're in the neighbourhood.

They are amusing birds, if greedy! As you say, in the right light they are very colourful.

As you know, we get lots on our windmill. I don't think they sleep there, just gather before flying off to roost.

Starlings are beautiful, but I 'hate' them when they assault or garden and eat all our cherries and currants...
