I do love a beach shot, so when Gary got called out to Hornsea I tagged along with him.
I readily admit I didn't really know what I was doing and found myself thinking of shot's I'd seen and trying for something close to them.
I really need to read up some more on composition, rather than pointing the camera and hoping for the best. Something for year two I think!
At least I managed to get a beach in before my 365 anniversary.
It is a beautiful picture and it doesn't look to me that you have any problems with composition. The only thing I would have considered changing, is having the groins end dead centre of the picture in the horizontal plane. But I know nothing and this already looks excellent. You caught the wave beautifully.
It's a cool b&w Suzanne. Very atmospheric. And I like the breaking waves. I find, for landscapes and beach shots, that using my tripod helps me to think more about my composition rather than just pointing and shooting like you say. It also means I can play around with my exposure times and maybe smooth out the water and clouds, which is great fun :-)
