I think I may, I think I might, have a little tiny bite... of you if you don't take that lens out of my face.
Saw this female in the grass along my daily walk. She was quite passive and I was able to get several photos.
Eastern Snapping Turtles are known to be quite aggressive out of the water, but the first sign of aggression is they hiss. She is probably looking for a sandy place to lay her eggs and was at least a .25 mile from the nearest body of water.
Not only was there one turtle on my path, which is a remarkable sighting, just a few feet away there was a second turtle and of a different breed though probably from the same pond. I posted that photo under my Like A Postcard album.
Two turtles in one day!!
Snappy here made the PP. Where she may only be for a short time as she really isn't all that friendly. Rumor is she has already tried to take a bite out of several of the other photos. :(
@melissapike@elsbels@lesphoto She allowed the lens to be within about 8 inches of her face and never gave me any warning that she was uncomfortable. Didn't hiss. Didn't pull back. I was very calm with her and Ladybug was wandering around in another direction, but also very calm. I'm guessing this is a once in a lifetime encounter for me.
