Not a vindscreen viper

Oh dear! Missed the light altogether today and I'm really not in the mood to drag out tripods and lights, so I went and played around in my recently recovered files.

This one is from Borneo. We were boating up a river and the boatman became very excited about something he could see. I glued the camera (with a 135ml lens) to my face and saw this baby. Needless to say I thought he looked so close because of the camera lens, and it wasn't until I'd finished snapping and put the camera down that I realized that he really was right there...in my face so to speak. These things are deadly poisonous and there's nowhere in Borneo to get treatment if you get bitten...so it's a good job that no-one did. You can see his prehensile tail wrapped around the branch. He uses that as an anchor when he strikes. Pretty though!

Thank you all for being good sports, for your views, comments and faves. Have a good weekend everyone.
