I really wish I knew what I did to get the sun to do that...... but quite frankly |I haven't a clue.

Hi Billy, it's an effect from the lens aperture. The smaller the aperture will cause a "starburst" effect around bright lights. In this case with the sun, and an aperture of f/20, you can clearly see the star shape from the light coming through the very narrow aperture and bending a bit at the corners of the aperture leaves (or whatever the little pieces of metal would be called). Often seen in night shots, I've not seen one of the sun to be honest...quite cool!

P.S. Careful if looking through viewfinder on shots like this, hopefully you used live view? Looking through viewfinder you can potentially fry your cornea :/

To a follower of the White Eagle teachings, the focus on the six pointed star is pretty key to meditation.
You have done really well to get this impressive Sun shot.. I love the image FAV.
