Decrepitude

Most towns have one of these on the outskirts of the town centre. An old boarded up shop with peeling paint and rusty metal window frames and drainpipes, tattered rags hanging at the window. Neglected, abandoned and a total eyesore.

This one is a particularly sad and sorry example........ but it has always fascinated me, as it seems to have been in this sorry state for 20 years that I know of.

However if you look closely there is a plant growing in the window on the left........ so somebody obviously still lives there. I have never seen anybody go in or out, so I assume there is some sort of a recluse or an agoraphobic hermit living there?

My imagination runs wild thinking about this imagining Quasimodo or phantom of the opera type characters. I would love to know but I'm not sure I dare knock on the door...............
So old so beautiful!

Great textures and capture of dereliction

Great light and textures. The window looks friendly, but the person who lives there seems to prefer to be lonely.

A rough facade. Maybe someone who likes to be alone, green fingered, fallen on hard times...

@carolinesdreams Or even a millionaire hiding his luxury home behind a shabby façade to deter burglars. :)

@swillinbillyflynn Probably that one. My preferred option :)
