FY1 by swillinbillyflynn

FY1

I often wonder if fishing boat's registration numbers are as highly prized as car registration numbers.

These registration numbers usually consist of the first and last letters of the port where they are registered, such as FY for Fowey, FH for Falmouth etc. followed by a number. Are these numbers handed down from father to sun like family heirlooms or do they change hands for large amounts of money? If so FY1 ought to be worth a few bob. :)

Cool scene with the building and all those traps (baskets, sure they have a proper name, excuse my English) and the boats. And thanks for the background info on the regi numbers.

I shall look afresh next time I'm at our seaside!

Great fishing/lobster pot composition, Billy. Not necessarily first & last letters. I remember mackerel fishing aboard AB1. Aberaeron, Wales.

@365projectorgsebgritt AB is the code for Aberystwyth which is AB rather than AH because AH had already been allocated to Arbroath. Simple really. In the case of duplicates, the go for the second letter rather than the last. :)

You're quite correct, Billy, I bow to you superior knowledge. It's still a lovely shot. :)
