I got pushed by @bernicrumb to take a mundane item in my home (kitchen appliance, a piece of furniture, etc., something that is mainly useful and not purely decorative) and take a picture of it that is from an unusual perspective
She really hit a soft spot with that as I never like to take pictures at home. I feel there is nothing interesting really.
Thinking about my challenge this morning while preparing an expresso I had this idea. This is an old coffee mill from the 1980ies. It really is only functional as it is not decorative at all ;) I love that it still works...quality made in GDR.
I had some trouble getting enough light on this scene so I positioned it towards the window. Not sure how I feel about the blurry foreground.
@synke I love it! You did great, and I happen to like the slightly blurry foreground and the main focus being on the grinder. Have you come up with a challenge for me yet? I haven't seen anything in my picture's comments from you about it.
Good job on the challenge. I like the way that the line of coffee beans leads the eye back into the photo (and the blurry foreground actually helps with this as the eye tracks back in the field of view to the sharply focused area), the use of sepia (it's lovely and somehow makes me think about how coffee smells), and the range of tones (dark to light). I think you hit this challenge perfectly.
@bernicrumb Thank you so much for this challenge. I keep thinking of what else in my place to take photos of now ;) It even had a short stay at the Popular Page this morning ;)
@synke That is cool that it made the Popular Page! :-D While I'm tied up for the rest of this week and the next working on a sewing project that is due in about 10 days, I'm going to keep my eyes open for other low key photography opportunities. :-)
@bernicrumb thanks! I am following you so I have an eye on your photography ;) I usually try viewing the ppl I follow daily...however don't always have enough time to comment.
