Pink Rose by taffy

Pink Rose

For get-pushed-34, I'm continuing to work with a flash. This one was done with manual settings and is a little over exposed, but I liked the softness of the lighting/colors.
Lovely image, Taffy! Again, I would not have guessed this is a flash shot. Beautiful colors and form. Excellent focus!

@spirrowshoot Thanks again for pushing me to learn how to use my flash!

@pflaume Thanks Lisa. You are so supportive -- I really appreciate your comments! I must have taken 30 shots of these with the flash and different settings. Great fun -- and still a lot to learn.

my favorite flower! Beautiful!!

Very pretty! It's interesting how the flash has effected the color- almost muted the pink rose and green background.

Beautiful focus. You have great close up shots

@karenpics @colie @lisay Thanks Karen, Colie, and Lisa.
@olivetreeann Ann, that's exactly what happened as the rose was a much deeper pink.
@tthompsonca Thanks, Terri! I use a 105 macro for these and it's really a terrific lens.

Love the colors :)

@breigh Thank you!
March 16th, 2013
Oh, it's gorgeous! I love the yin-yang of the two outside petals, and the way the highlights are so soft. Well done! Definitely would not be the same with only ambient lighting.
March 16th, 2013
@spirrowshoot If it hadn't been for your challenge, my flash would still be sitting in its case in the 'never used' category. Now it's made me interested in learning about setting it up off-camera, strobe flashes, and other lighting. Thanks!

And I thought the white one was beautiful. This is perhaps even more beautiful. I can almost smell it!

Hi Taffy, I'm your get-pushed-35 challenger. I have looked through your collection and all are so vibrant and bright. That's why I would like to see you attempt a Low Key Black and White photo. This my first time participating in the get pushed challenges so if there is anything else I need to do, please let me know.
Good luck.

Lovely shot. Wonderful dof. Looks even greater viewed large.

Such great detail. Well done. From a using the flash aspect, the lighting is great too.
March 17th, 2013
@nana2r Thank you so much Carren! I have one more thing to try with these roses -- they've been so cooperative in getting prettier each day!
March 17th, 2013
@dtigani Hi David! This is a good get-pushed for me. I'm planning to try my first one with one of the roses -- we'll see if it works. I'm still looking at your shots and thinking up a good get-pushed for you, given your range of experience already.

@happysnap Thank, Linda, for taking the time to view large and comment!

Ooh, perfect use of the flash--I can't tell it's flash! It's simply lovely soft lighting on the rose.
March 18th, 2013
Oh how gorgeous, the dof, the colour, the softness... just stunning. And the near-symmetry is great too.
March 18th, 2013
Simply beautiful - fav. :)

@danielwsc @anwan @tuesdaygirl Thanks Daniel, Annette, Jess, and Danielle for the supportive comments, and Danielle, thanks so much for the fav!

True that the top right petal is a bit over...but it's spot on where it counts and I don't think that detracts from the image as a whole, which has wonderful tonality (and if you wanted to get rid of it I suppose you could always do a tight crop!)
March 18th, 2013
Lovely soft background, what a pretty pink rose, well done
March 19th, 2013
I like the softness against the detail of the center petals.
