I've just created a new part of my Year 2 plan. On the last 3 days of the month, I'm allowing myself to go back through the month's photos and choose ones I would have wanted to post, but they came in second or third to other choices from the day. This is an HDR of three shots, f8, at 1/25, 1/30, and 1/40 handheld. I'm on the south side looking up toward the planetarium's main building along the wall of the education center. It's an unusual view but to me, the most interesting one of the building. This is the more typical view - http://www.scitechantiques.com/Adler/Adler_Planetarium-Chicago.jpg
Major work project due for an all day meeting Saturday so only minimal time for 365 fun.

I really like the juxtaposition of the rounded dome, the straight but angled walls, and the sharp angles of the pyramid like structure behind, and in the foreground.
It looks like an ancient monument, so imposing and majestic! You have definitely found a much more interesting POV to photograph than the standard head-on views.
Such an interesting pov - it could be a building from a futuristic film or from an ancient city. As always you capture architecture superbly.

I was going to write The same comment as Linda's @happysnap
To me it suggested a structure from a science fiction movie or a sort of Maya or Aztec pyramid. Very interesting.
I really like this, all the geometry and the composition is great. I like the idea of your plan to start posting things that missed first selection first time around. I often think you like things more when you come back to them later. Your comments have made me think I need to plan my photography more, especially 365.
I commend you on you year 2 goal. To me, the beauty of 365 is that it allows you to do what's best for you. Thank you for sharing this image. Love the lines and textures and perspective.
@rvwalker Thanks Ross. When I saw how it came out, it is much more sci-fi and impressive looking than I'd imagined. The front view really is pretty cliché looking of the round dome on a squarish building. From this view, it really has such a different feel.
I really love this shot- it's so solid feeling and yet has that wonderful thrust up to the skies. I love planetariums although it's been ages since I've been to one. fav
@olivetreeann@genesis_one Thanks Ann and Corrie for the view, comment, and fav! You are both such supportive 365 friends! Your fav's are especially appreciated on a dreary day that was hard for me to get enthused about photographing anything!
@espyetta You come up with the very best names of anyone on the site!!! I love Filler Fun at Final! Great idea! The tag could be FFF (which is much more positive than my "coming in second" idea!
Great idea for time management and to manage the addiction. haha I am doing the post a shot a day on the right day and it is tiring. hee hee after not having done that for a year and a half. Today I just posted my days shots from yesterday. The day before I posted for Jan. 29 and 30. Then today, after posting, I was like "Oh, now I have to take a pic TODAY and post it." haha I like it though! and yes, feel free to use FFF
@ericdibosco I had help re steady hands as I was leaning the camera on the wall of the angled part of the building to the right of center. I don't think I would have been as steady without that support.
I'm liking you're Year 2 plan. A great idea to give your other photos a chance to shine. I'm loving the point of view of this building and the gloomy sky!
