We bought a bouquet of daffodils yesterday and the entire bouquet opened today making for a wonderful feeling of spring in the house. I set up my camera with macro lens on the tripod to take longer exposure, tight f-stop shots to maximize the details and DoF and then took photos off and on of these and the lilies we'd bought. This particular image is a combination of three shots, processed in HDR, then in Color Efex and converted to b&w using a solarization filter.
Thanks for your wonderful comments about my photos of the greening of the Chicago River for St Pat's day! It was fun taking such odd looking scenes and then getting to share them with you.

@redy4et Thanks so much, Elizabeth! Silver Efex is part of the Nik Suite software package I bought last year. It was bought out by Google sometime during the year and the price was cut in half. I use Aperture on my mac, and Nik Suite opens within that program. I think it's compatible with a ton of different processing software but I don't use anything sophisticated (not even LR or PS).
Stunning Taffy! Love your processing giving that metallic sheen and perfect details! I had been thinking of using HDR for one of my macros this month for something different and now I will definitely have a go! Always an inspiration! Fav!
A lot of steps went into this artistic creation! I like how the cups of two of the flowers have an almost inner light. Makes the details within well-definied.
Appreciate your comment on my Peppermint candy pic. It's encouraging, coming from you. :) I really admire your work.
Fabulous solarisation. I love the way you have done this. My favourite solarisation shot is the portrait of Lee Miller by Man Ray. You have matched the intensity of it with this shot.
I've just tried one of my daffodil pics using all this software, but can't replicate anything near this. Very clever stuff. I love the shiny metallic effect. Brilliant!
@carolclements Do you have Nil Suite or something similar that allows you to apply filters in post production? If so, try a solarization filter, one of the moderate ones (they can get pretty weird looking). That's what I did, then used sliders to tone down and turn it to the final version.
@taffy Hi, yes I have the Nik suite. I tried solarization but it didn't have this effect - but then I didn't take the photograph the same way in the first place! :-) I love how shiny they are. You've got me all obsessed now!
Fav.
