On my way back from the dentist, the sky opened up and I ducked into a store (where I maintained self-control and did not buy anything). Since I was focusing on NOT shopping, I was looking for something to photograph when I noticed all the reflections in the aftermath of the downpour, and that lone waiting bicycle next to the flower bed. It almost made the slight drenching worth it.
A stunning image and a great opportunity taken Taffy --just think ,if without the downpour and the street lights -you would not have been able to capture all those super lights and reflections -- what a delightful composition -- just makes me want to sing "I'm singing in the rain" !! A very appealing shot and a fav !
Your colors are so rich, it feels as though a layer of dust has been washed off of everything! What a marvelous moment to capture this perfectly placed bicycle!, and the walkers in the background form a nice panel of colors. Beautiful!
I almost forgot...did you see the free software offer Jocasta shared? http://www.ononesoftware.com/landing/pe8offer I got it...looks quite user friendly and has some good stuff to play with...didn't want you to miss it as you seem to like that sort of thing. And "free" is a really good price!
@Weezilou Thanks for the heads up...I did download this the last time there was a free offer, but haven't taken the time to figure it out yet. I'm glad you downloaded it -- can't wait to see what you do! If you come across any tutorials you like, will you let me know? Did I tell you I broke down and bought SnapArt! It was 30% off for educators (do you know someone with an edu address and ID? Even Jim encouraged me to do it, after looking at the photos I'd posted!
@taffy Thanks! I hand't thought about the fact that my SIL is a faculty member in a private high school. (He owes me, too! ;) As to tutorials, what sort are you looking for...as in, for what software? I took PS classes a few summers back, just 3 of us with a local man who knew more about PS than we did, but with PS...Where to begin?! Our little group, I know, would like to do more, so I'll let you know what I learn as I go along this summer. (Wow...me? "Helping" you?? I owe you, too, so can't wait to have something to share!)
@Weezilou I want to learn PS this summer, but I was thinking at the moment about perfect layers 8 software as i want to learn to layer and don't have a clue where to start!
@taffy Dear Nightowl...
I just grabbed a photo of little consequence, figured out how to put a "cute" frame on it and put it on "stationery" to send in email... That's as far as I've gotten this evening. I'll look at the layering as I would imagine it's much like PS and see if I can give any pointers. Again I'm not nearly so proficient as others here, but I know a few tricks... As I said to a group of friends the other day when they wanted to know what more I possibly needed to learn about photography, "I've come to the conclusion that amongst my local neighbors, I can say with some confidence, 'I'm a photographer/artist/whatever' because I probably know a lot more about it than the locals do... But in the public arena (say "365") I know my place and I'm a piker with much to learn." Thanks heaven for the sharing and caring! It moves things right along!
I've yet to look at today's photos...haven't uploaded them, but we're going to brunch tomorrow, so I'm going to head to bed shortly. Thanks for the chat, and I'll look through the software and see if I can help you in any way with layering. 'til then, Goodnight (:
I confirm it was definitely worth it! This is a truly awesome shot. I love the composition, and the reflections enhance it nicely. FAv three times over
This is fantastic - I swear, the best shots are when the sky is dark and cloudy. While I know you're in Chicago, this takes me back to many evenings in NY. Love it!
All the parts in this photo fit together perfectly. It feels right. You have a stupendous eye for balance. The tulip bed is lovely. The bike and wet pavement add a story to this photo. Fav.
@khawbecker Thanks so much for the fav! And what a wonderful comment -- I'm glad you think I have a sense of balance as that was one of the things about this shot I felt really good about. It felt to me that everything just lined up for me. All I had to do was a crop to bring things in line and a little with saturation. I couldn't believe it when I saw the reflection of the light and people and bike!
This one caught my eye as I was glancing through the thumbnail views of the many images I've missed of yours here lately. The bright colors of the flowers and the reflections on the wet pavement are fantastic! What a photo op you spotted.
Congrats on yoru double TT Taffy!! Both fabulous shots!! I can't believe I am there with you this week - my first time - so excited and thrilled to be there with you!!
@amandal@mzzhope@dibzgreasley@pamknowler@luvmynynix Thanks so much for your kind comments!! I so appreciate your following my work and being so encouraging. It was exciting to see this on TT - it was never on PP so it was a really nice surprise.
Wow, I love this shot, Taffy. You captured the colors and reflections so well. What a wonderful find with this bike in front of such beautiful flowers. So perfectly done. You were at the right place at the right time. FAV
@darsphotos@eyesmile@pflaume@soboy5@kareenking@willowdragon Thanks so much for your kind comments and support! I was pretty excited to see this one make it to TT -- it is a special shot for me -- different than my 'usual' and it was such a single moment in time type of capture.
Beautiful shot.....so deserving of TT!!! Sorry, I did not see it when you first posted it......May has been the month from hell, and I am so behind in viewing and commenting!! So glad to see it now!
