A pair of eagles are hanging out on some exposed rocks in our shallow bay, both this afternoon and tonight, but out of reach of even my 300mm. I did brave the beach (complete with netting over my head) this afternoon, but it just wasn't worth it. I took this one tonight getting everything on my camera set up inside, then dashing out onto the deck for about seconds to shoot without the window and screen in the way. I'm glad you enjoyed seeing one of the mosquitoes from earlier today!
And please take note of the new ETSOOI-Skies theme/challenge I'm hosting this week. Have a go at it -- it's fun! Here's the original announcement from today, already gone from the home page: http://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/22558/etsooi-35-skies
What a stunning image!!! You are so lucky to be in such a beautiful place! The color here is amazing and so peaceful and calm. Sorry about those nasty biters though. They LOVE me!
Great capture with lovely colours. Perhaps too far for your lens, but so well positioned and framed that there is no doubt about where the eye should come to rest.
@kwind Thanks! The bugs are awful. It's the first thing everyone talks about when we see each other (and this, after not seeing one another since last fall!). Huge clouds of 'midges' and mozzies. I'm a mosquito-attractor, but even those who aren't can't be outside without protection extraordinaire. So frustrating! I'm hoping they are vastly reduced by the time I come back mid-June and at this point, am less disappointed about leaving Tuesday than I'd normally be. It is beautiful...but the outdoors is taunting us!
I thought my cousin in Texas had it bad with the mosquitos. I guess that Vitamin B would not help? My husband is allergic to mosquitos and Vitamin B Complex keeps them away from his sour blood when he takes it. Best of luck with the bugs.
I guess I would have to avoid Beaver Island at this time of year as I am a mosquito magnet! If it wasn't for Avon Skin so Soft I'd never be able to work in the garden or take a walk! This shot is amazing in the color the sun has turned the sky and water. So glad you braved the shot. And hopefully when you return you will be rewarded with less bugs! Beautiful shot.
