The wind came up making the mozzies a little less threatening, so I covered up, netted up, sprayed a bit, and walked along the beach late this afternoon to take pictures of the water for this week's theme. I rarely have any luck capturing birds, so was excited that I caught these four as they were taking off. I trailed one for awhile and posted a b&w of that one in my extras album - http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2014-06-02. It did feel good to be outside -- and to be able to show a wonderful side of Beaver Island. There was a big ceremony here last week to open the Beaver Island Birding Trail -- we are now an official part of the national trail system!
Great shot and a fav: I love the panoramic crop, the height of the horizon and the line which the gulls form...really leads the eye through the picture. And in your processing you have succeeded to really make the gulls stand out...well done!
Well you caught these very well, really wonderful effective shot & processing. I´m very much looking forwards seeing the island through your eyes again.
Amazing picture. Great to be part of national trail system. We have walked part of the Peddars Way, The Ridgeway, the English Coastal path, particularly in Cornwall, Hadrian's Wall Path and The South Downs Way. I wasn't taking photographs then but this summer we're back in Cornwall and in the Brecon Beacons with camera in hand!
What a perfectly timed capture! Well done . . . and congrats on being on the national birding trail! Your photos have shown plenty of evidence of what great birds show up there.
