Airports, Layovers, Delays by taffy

Airports, Layovers, Delays

While cutting back dramatically on time on 365 this month, I had to post today and thank everyone for your views, comments, and favs that put my Red Sky..photo at the top of TT. WOW!!!! I so appreciate your response to my photos!
This photo...
Long delay in Dallas on way to visit family. How to pass the time with no wireless access?
1. Smart decision #1: review and respond to student papers to get that behind me -- did not make this decision.
2. Smart decision #2: work on presentations for Australia trip coming up -- did not make this decision
3. Less smart decision: wander airport with camera, decide to wait until there are no people on escalators to the inter-terminal train transport -- obvious result
4. Still less smart decision: process said photos -- obvious decision
5. Recognize taking total break from 365 is next to impossible.
love the colors and lines in your shot.

Taffy your commentary and shot made me smile. And I just low how you made an escalator look amazing.
October 4th, 2014
Gorgeous Taffy! I hope they get that mess straightened out soon!
October 4th, 2014
Oh wow,Great lines and light. You can make any mundane scene look like the Emerald City from the Wizard of Oz.The glass and plexiglass in this image look like jewels.
October 4th, 2014
Well done Taffy - and I see a second shot in the TT too! Much deserved. I like the leading lines on this shot too.

This is fabulous! Love the leading lines.
October 4th, 2014
Beautiful! I love the juxtaposition of the curved wall with the straight lines of the escalator. Enjoy your time in Colorado, the weather supposed to be beautiful this weekend!
October 4th, 2014
Excellent shot, great lines
October 4th, 2014
Love the feeling of desertion that this image conveys, knowing that at other times it will be full of people, Great processing.
October 4th, 2014
Awesome shot
October 4th, 2014
Love your thought process!

Cracking shot.
October 4th, 2014
Great shot, nice lines
October 4th, 2014
I would FAV this pic twice if I could - LOL wanted so badly to get a pic of the escalators empty during my recent travels and never got so lucky. Great, great shot :) Loved your commentary as well - what a great presentation :)
October 4th, 2014
Were you the only one at the airport?
October 4th, 2014
Congrats on TT #1 Taffy. I'm pulling up the rear at 20. I don't even deserve to be on the same page as you. Guess the adage fits - sometimes you don't have to be good, you just have to be lucky. Very loud LOL. Glad you explained this shot as I couldn't understand why the airport is empty. BTW I knew you couldn't stay away.
October 4th, 2014
Great shot! :)
October 4th, 2014
Congratulations. I do love the perspective, well done to manage an empty escalator in a busy airport :)
October 4th, 2014
Oops Fav :)
October 4th, 2014
This is a fabulous shot love it fav
October 4th, 2014
I spent 6 hours at DFW this past weekend. Totally bored. Had camera with me. Struggled with keying in on anything interesting to take a photo of. But, Wow! You sure make this escalator to the Sky link look a whole lot more interesting than I recall!
October 4th, 2014
Great composition. Good to make the most of opportunities!
October 4th, 2014
Wonderful capture and processing!!! Great way to spend your time in the airport!!! Fun shot!!!
October 4th, 2014
Great leading lines, composition, light. Fav
October 5th, 2014
Love your story. Great capture. Looking forward to your Australia trip and seeing your photos through your eyes. :-)
October 5th, 2014
Stunning picture. Congratulations on making the Trending Page. Well deserved.
October 5th, 2014
Wonderful processing! I like the tones.
October 5th, 2014
Great composition, love the symmetry.
October 5th, 2014
Fantastic shot, well worth the wait until nobody was on the escalator. Brilliant commentary. No contest really - Work or take photos. Photos win every time.
October 5th, 2014
Lovely shot... as Hope observed, it does look like Emerald City. :) Safe travels and I, like many, are looking forward to your Aussie shots.
October 5th, 2014
LOL at your story, but I reckon you picked the best way to deal with the situation at hand. This is a wonderful shot, all those lines going in all directions, but with the strong lines of the escalators pull the eye inexorable towards them and upwards. Love this shot, ticks all my boxes. Fav.
October 5th, 2014
LOL Sounds like your day went similar to mine. Smart decision #1 Get some household chores done. Smart decision #2 Sort through clothes no longer being worn and get ready to donate. Less than Smart decision but still productive #3 Put the new belt on the vacuum cleaner and vacuum. Still less than smart decision #4 Run to Walmart and buy 365 Props (obviously the one I chose) and #5 Play with 365 props and take pictures to post on 365 until you realize you'd better get dinner started before hubby comes home hungry! Glad you had some fun at the airport and congratulations on the TT!
October 5th, 2014
Great lighting and lines in this photo. And you made great choices today. :)
October 5th, 2014
great pov
October 5th, 2014
What a cool shot, great lines and lighting.
October 5th, 2014
How awesome you were able to capture the escalators empty, that couldn't have been easy! But I probably would've made the same decision. Work will be there later, fun airport shots won't be!
October 5th, 2014
@kathiecb Haha!! Yes, it's very hard to NOT look at photos and want to comment. Or not post even though I should not be processing photos!

@olivetreeann You gave me a good laugh -- thanks for commenting and sharing your bad decision-making!
October 5th, 2014
Haha! Great photo, funny words. If you like it, and it does something for you, you should keep it!
October 5th, 2014
@satinscape Just desperation...but actually, I've been eyeing these escalators for about a year and never had enough time to do anything about it as they are usually so crowded. I had to wait about 15 minutes for the 30 seconds that they were empty.
October 5th, 2014
Wonderful shot Taffy. The only reason I'm commenting at the moment is insomnia. Love your commentary and congrats on TT
October 5th, 2014
@ceilidh Oh no! Well, I appreciate your giving up sleep to comment on my photo!
October 5th, 2014
@janiskay Haha! I wish!! Very crowded and had to wait quite a bit to get a shot of this empty and not packed with folks in a hurry (to their delayed flights?).
October 5th, 2014
Nicely captured and congratulations on the TT ranking.
October 5th, 2014
awesome escalators and where in Oz are you travelling?
October 5th, 2014
You can grow old in DFW! I've spent far too much time there myself. Wonderful shot and perspective. You obviously have a firm grip on the important priorities of life.
October 5th, 2014
Taffy, there is no way you can go Cold Turkey on 365!! Yes, I believe that part 1 of recovery is recognizing that you need help, but to hell with it!! :-))) Safe travels! I suspect we will be seeing your photos here this month! And, good luck with all that other stuff that you have to get done....unfortunately, it tends to interfere with 365!
October 5th, 2014
Very cool!
October 5th, 2014
Excellent composition, love the light and symmetry.
October 5th, 2014
Yes, but what a result that you couldn't have gotten if you'd made any of the other choices. I mean, when are you going to get stuck at DFW airport again?
October 5th, 2014
Your processing is always spot on the way you manage to get just the right level of detail and tone is impressive. Who would have thought that such a simple plain ordinary object like this could be interpreted to this. Well done
October 5th, 2014
Wow Taffy another stuning capture!! I love how you manage to get that brief moment when there is no one of the stairs!! A wonderful way to spend the boring time waiting in an airport!! Safe travels - lovely to see your shots!! Fav!
October 5th, 2014
This is an awesome shot! You made an escalator look spectacular!
October 5th, 2014
Sounds like decisions I make! This pic was a good decision! In January of 2015 I will no longer be on my post a pic daily thing and can go back to part time. I am ready!!!!!
October 5th, 2014
Wow love the colors and lines in the shot Taffy!
Enjoy your holiday
October 6th, 2014
@espyetta That's my plan as well...I can't NOT post and comment but Jan 1, it's weekly, I think.
October 6th, 2014
@panthora You are so right...I find myself sneaking peeks, even as my family is all in the kitchen right now hanging out. At least I'm not the only one with a computer open!
October 6th, 2014
This is such an amazing shot, Taffy. I love the what I call 3D effect, looks like I am there just looking at this photo. Love what you wrote and that you got other things done before taking photos. No way to get away from here for very long. FAV
October 6th, 2014
I do love your processing Taffy, it looks like a poster. I want to complete this year and then will be posting sporadically I think.
October 6th, 2014
Well worth waiting for the empty escalator! This is a stunningly beautiful shot, great composition and great detail!
October 6th, 2014
I was away over the weekend and I was just in a quandary wondering what I was missing and dying to post a photo. Even a not so good photo. You never do that. How to make an escalator look good.
October 6th, 2014
Excellent. I've been photographing escalators on London Underground over the last couple of days to be posted soon.
October 6th, 2014
brilliant capture. Another fav
