This is the Mortlock wing of the Adelaide library in South Australia, recommended by @silver_fox as a site I'd enjoy photographing. So right! It was an amazing architectural structure with so many photo ops throughout. This is taken at one end from the ground floor. The alcoves on the side convey an array of aspects of the history of Adelaide.
Heading back to Chicago today from Beaver Island, as soon as planes start flying -- socked in with rain -- another joy of island life...Thanks again for all your well wishes for my knee's quick recovery!
Yeah to be headed home. Home is always so welcome after traveling. Gorgeous shot, comp and details. A great looking place. Amazingly empty here. Everyone is home on 365;-).
I like the huge sense of depth you have achieved in this image with reducing height of he columns and the converging lines, then their is the door at the end that acts as an abrupt stop.
Wonderful amazing Architecture ! Wonderful leading lines, depth and repetition. I'm sure the use of black and white ties everything together very nicely.
Great depth in this image. Wonderful symmetry down to the detail of the back-to-back benches, and fantastic diminishing perspective really drives home the depth
Great architectural shot Taffy, what a wonderful place you found. The only time I used the Barr Smith library I didn't get to see this part. I've only just caught up with the news of your bad knee. What happened?? I hope Australia didn't do you a mischief.
So glad you were headed home today. I hope that went well. Good luck at your appointment. This is an awesome shot, Taffy. Love all the detail and your use of B&W. FAV
Your photos of architecture are always so impressive. This is not just a picture of a place, it's a work of art in itself. Your image draws me in and makes me wish I were there to see the details up-close for myself. Adelaide has an impressive library.
Thinking about you and your knee appointment today.
I just love your architectural shots Taffy. It started when you were in France and I was amazed by what I saw in your snaps. Am I surprised it continues, no? I love this b&w image.
@ceilidh Thanks Margaret -- how very kind of you to say this! I do love photographing architecture and the recent travel opportunities have been so lucky for me to have access to such a variety.
@darsphotos Thanks Darlene -- I appreciate your concern and care. The cortisone shot has made a huge difference. In fact, my knee almost feels normal and I have to remember that it isn't really normal -- it just isn't painful. But the doctor thought within a week or two my knee should be functional again. So, all of that to me was great news.
Totally a killer shot. I tried to channel you today. I took three shots of the same subject but different focal points--with the idea that someday I'll know how to layer them and get a perfect focused shot. I have NO clue how to do it, but I used a tripod, so that should make it possible no? But this shot. Someday, I'll do a shot like this! I ran into a photographer from Chicago (recently moved south), and I blabbed on and on about how I know this amazing photographer from there-- you! :)
@darylo Aw...thanks!! That means a lot coming from you. You know I think your work is fantastic. Someday we will have to have our photo walk with Junko!
