We rode up the funicular to the peak of a small local mountain. More amazing was watching cyclists plow their way up (visible when the funicular crossed over the road). This guy at the top seemed to capture what I know I'd feel like, if I would even have had the strength to hold a bottle of water!
@juliedduncan An old system of getting up mountainsides. It's a small railcar, and like a lot of systems, a single rail where at one spot it splits so the two cars (one going up, the other on its way down) can pass each other. No seats on this one as it's only a 5 minute ride (but a several hour walk, I'm sure!).
Hard to imagine cycling up a mountain, but I know they do it at Mount Washington also, I love this shot rather then the usual shot of them cycling it says a lot about the effort.
