I took this to practice food photography since my macro was on my camera (from penguin shots). But, when I looked at it in processing, it struck me that crab claw looked like a long pointed snout and the crab legs looked like it was resting on arms above its head. Anyone else see this in the image?
In the end, it was a delicious dinner tonight!
Back to fire saga...
Mostly good things
1. All our goods are now 'cleaned' and we can view them Wednesday afternoon and decide what we want to have with us in our temporary condo and decide if those things in storage should stay at the company that has had them.
2. We have a meeting Friday for the new content company to inventory the things left in the house
3. The architect has completed the plans for reconstruction.
4. The contractor and insurance adjustor are negotiating the estimate for construction
5. An expediter has been hired to get the city permits -- in Chicago, this is someone who stays at City Hall all day to try to get inspections set up. Says something about Chicago and the way it "works."
Not so good things...
1. 6 weeks after the fire and the house is not yet empty and construction has not yet started. Hard to believe we will be back in our house in 4 to 6 months at this rate.
I see it too! I had a similar realization of seeing odd things in my photo today as well. Funny once you see something you can't really unsee it. At least you're getting some progress on the house too although not as speedy as you'd like I'm sure.
I see a snout in the claw, almost crocodile like. I have never eaten fresh crab like this. Good to hear that things are moving along post the fire. Hopefully the construction will start soon and that you will be back home in the projected time.
hehe, it took me a second to see what you described but once I saw it I had to giggle :) Looks delicious though, crab is one of my favorite things to eat!
I can see what you mean Taffy, though it took a couple of looks. I'll bet you enjoyed the food. Sorry to hear about the drawn-out fire saga though, must be a real pain for you and Jim. Bloomin' local government, they thrive on red-tape and delays.
@creampuff Thanks for the links to the photos -- that's hysterical -- they really do look like the same jaws! Yep, tomorrow is the big day to 'see our stuff.' We're both a bit worried...hoping it all looks well cared for.
I do see it and had to chuckle. Not chuckling so much about the slow progress you're experiencing, but not surprised either. Sometimes Jeff will get called to look at a job, work up a price, and then seeming never hear from the client again- until 6, 7, once even 11 months later when he's written the job off as "lost". Hang in there- it will get finished (but never count on the majority of contractors and/or insurance people to get things done when they say they will be done).
I love the way this turned out! So artistic and implies a story -- yes, I see the snout! Good to hear of progress on the house front, yet a little worrisome that there isn't even more.
Ooh lovely crab it looks delicious!! Sorry the fire saga is dragging a bit. Lets hope the New year starts well and someone puts a rocket up the builders backsides and gets them moving!! Such a frustrating business for you both!!
Interesting shot Taffy! Have been a bit out of touch, past couple of months, hope to be back more regularly. Do hope things work out smoothly for you in 2015. Really :-( to hear about the fire...
Civic admin is a pain and it's a long road but it sounds as if things are progressing as much as they could be. though. All the best.
Sorry to hear about your house woes. It must be very traumatic for you seeing as it wasn't your fault in the first place!
