Lobby Balcony by taffy

Lobby Balcony

The lobby in the Oriental Theater was renovated a few years ago -- it's quite spectacular in its opulence, acoustics, etc. Lighting was tricky so bracketed to get all the details I could pull out.

You did great in capturing a difficult but beautiful space! Frankly, I get dizzy looking at all that opulent detailing in those old buildings....makes me want to escape to a minimalist coffeehouse/bar afterwards! That being said, it really feels good to be inside one of those warm, enveloping spaces with all the lights, glitter and gold!
February 19th, 2015
Such a fabulous capture considering the lighting - if only we could make buildings like this today.

Congratulations on making the PP. Well deserved.

@elaine55 @ericdibosco Thanks for your kind words. The hand-held bracketing that I'd love to take credit for, actually mostly works with my wide angle. It's truly an amazing lens that I've come to love using. I find I can sometimes do this with a 50mm prime, but with my other zoom lenses, I can't be steady enough even if supported against something. But thanks!!
February 23rd, 2015
Beautiful. Congrats on PP too.

This is amazing! I've been there a couple of times and always amazed by the ornate details and the restoration.
