When the lake is calm and the clouds are just right -- every few years it feels like -- we get a scene like this where the lake serves as a mirror. This was taken the same day as the ferry shot, but from the other side of the island and a few hours later.
Thanks for the kind comments on the bokeh of Lake Michigan yesterday!
Please consider contributing a photo with stairs as the 'star' for the mundane challenge this week. Here's the link (and remember to post in the thread if you do one, so that the link stays easy to find on the Latest from Friends page. http://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/25806/announcing-mundane-challenge-stairs
This is a lovely, peaceful scene, Taffy. The colours in the sky and reflectons are just magnificent - soft pastels, complimenting the unusual calmness of the lake. So glad you were there on the day (even though you feel that you had the wrong lens. Which, by the way, still made for a magnificent image!)
Stunning shot, Taffy. The gentle colours are just right for the soft, reflective nature of the scene, and the reflections are so still and beautiful. A calming place to be. Fav.
@joansmor We do have plans for viewing fireworks and I'm taking my camera and tripod. Keeping fingers crossed for a clear and bug-less night! What about you?
Incredible shot! Have always wanted to venture to Beaver Island (I grew up in the UP and I also lived in Chicago many years). Enjoyed viewing your spectacular shots.
