I've always wished I had the eye-hand coordination to paint, so occasionally I use a photo that has colors and forms that appeal to me, but that doesn't quite work as a photo as the basis for processing to look more like the kind of painting I wish I could do. In this case, sort of a study of color and form. Seemed a good way to end a day that included a golf game, massive plantings which are now complete, long-distance work with house contractor, and other good stuff, browse/comment on 385, AND read (part of) a very good book! A very good day...hope everyone in the US is looking forward to a good holiday weekend.
Many thanks for views and favs that put my red rose on the PP! Such a special form of motivation!
I really admire you for this processing and having the eye to see it's potential. I never had that ability. This is different from what I am used to seeing and commenting on, but it works perfectly. The mix of colours are really eye-catching.
Me too, my mother could but she didn't pass on the gene. Well done here. Hope the book was pure pleasure. I listen to audio books every day on my commute.
@stuckinoz Just finished it -- a good read. Called The Lost Wife by Alyson Richman. Genre is holocaust backdrop. Well written and a fast read. Some parts are hard to get through -- historical fiction of the Terrazin -- a lot of Jews from Prague were sent there before ultimately ending up in a death camp. So, it's actually a love story, but dark. Next one on the list is The English Spy by Silva. I'm enjoying summer reading and non-work related books to get lost in! What's on your current list?
Just like a water colour! My brother was an artist in lots of different mediums but I always loved his water colours. This reminds me of his style! Sadly the artistic gene did not come my way! I went to art classes and they all laughed at my work! So disappointing! Fav for your wonderful processing producing such a gorgeous image!
TAFFY...this is just so beautiful! I love that it does look like a painting, as I feel the same way about painting as you. It's not that I haven't tried. I know who I want it to look...and photography is the closes I can come
This is so gorgeous, Taffy. I love the colors. I always have wished I could paint too. I watched a guy on PBS for years, then he passed and now they are playing repeats. He made it look so easy. I have no idea how you accomplished this but it is awesome. FAV
@redy4et I agree. It's a fairly quick read but there's a lot to it. I was pleasantly surprised...my mom had read it after seeing a description in Bookmarks.
Wow love this painterly processing Taffy, very creative!
The colours are amazing!!
I looked up The Lost Wife, looks very interesting, I'm always looking for a good read.
Have you read Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay??
@radiogirl Thanks for the kind comments today! Yes, I loved Sarah'd key. Have lost so many of my grandmother's generation, and some of my moms', I've grown up with Holocaust readings. But no matter how much I read them, I'm always moved by the horrific nature of that era -- and as I've gotten older, realize the long range effects it has had on that as well as subsequent generations.
@taffy so we like similar books! Well I know you haven't read this book yet because it comes out Sept 8th, 2015.
It's called "The Girl from the Train" by Irma Joubert
This book sounds interesting it is about a girl who escapes from a train heading to a concentration camp in Germany around 1943.
@radiogirl I'll watch for it. I did just finish a book called Girl on the Train. Very different than the ones you are talking about but a good read. Sort of like, but not quite, Gone Girl in the mystery of it. Just a recent book I enjoyed...
Wife". Might be a good one for my book club)
