A change of pace from the last few very colorful days.
Thank you for the lovely response to the 'before the fireworks' shot of the harbor. There was a strong sense of 'calm before the storm.' Though the actual storm hit us tonight! Good thing no fireworks or cookouts were planned.
@jyokota If only....haven't had time to print or frame anything new this year. But someone in my critique said it needed a frame as the white would bleed into the background...so I got a little carried away processing one into the photo image.
I REALLY like what you have done with this one in the end, Taffy. The closer crop, featuring only the old tree, was definitely the way to go with the image, but the frame you have added has rounded it off so well. It really looks ready to hang on your wall.
Beautiful, I like the stark nature of the shot. The frame works very well. I'm not usually one for adding a frame but in this instance it is the right choice.
The contrasts between the empty branches of the bare tree, against the full greenery of the tree behind it, are stark. The b&w really helps bring this out. I like the frames, too. They draw the eye into the image nicely.
@ericdibosco Thanks Eric! It was Ross' idea for needing something to separate the edge from the white background, so I thought creating a frame made sense. I so rarely do that, but this on seemed to benefit.
@taffy Fair enough, but the raw material is all yours. The impact of framing the image has been a surprise to me, but is something I shall try to keep in mind for Ron and Justin. (Translates as 'later on' and 'just in case' if the slang's not common in your neck of the woods.)
