Many have commented that you were surprised to read the Beaver Island is relatively large (15 miles long, about 3 miles wide) and has forests and inland lakes. I thought I'd post this shot from tonight showing one of our beautiful inland lakes, known as home to a pair of loons when we're lucky, snapping turtles, fish for the fishermen/women, and other wildlife. I like the dragonflies that hang out there but am often chased off by mosquitoes. When we were driving back from town tonight, Jim pulled over so I could take this shot.
After the golden hour, we were treated to a beautiful blue hour with the rising moon - http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2015-07-27
Is there a bridge you drive over to get to this beautiful island (except for the mosquitos) "Driving from town' you say. This looks a lovely time to be doing this!
Love the glow on the water and grassses and the slight blue tinge to the water. It looks a great place to be in and to enjoy it. Are there beavers there?
Wow my type of shot........love the golden glow Taffy! How interesting to have inland lakes to enjoy while on Beaver island. We like to go to Bermuda in the winter and the whole country is only 21 miles long! Great to a rent a scooter and explore the island, as you can't rent a vehicle.
Beautiful shot with those oranges reflecting in the water. That sounds like a big area but when you are on an island you quickly become aware of your limits. That is part of the beauty of an island.
@paulaw I too will pretend no mosquitoes! ;-)
