Garden Star by taffy

Garden Star

Taken in a friend's garden, working on using multiple exposure in camera. There must be a better way to do these to remember where the exact focal point was from image #1 to align image #2 so that the composition makes sense. I haven't figured that out yet.
LR seems to have fixed itself after I let it rest a few days. Weird. Maybe it got jealous of my using Aperture?
Stunning picture and processing.

I really like what you have done with this shot...great colors, details

I love it Taffy

Congratulations on making the Trending Page. Well deserved.

Love how you have managed to get all those red poppies in the centre of the 2nd images flower. Taffy, would using single point focus help get the same focus overlaying.?
August 10th, 2015
nicely done

I have never tried this as my old camera wouldn't do it but I think my Canon 5D Mark 111 does. I love this image Taffy especially the poppies in the middle of the flower. Must have a try - you have inspired me! Fav!

Fantastic DE, it works very well. That is one mode I haven't experimented with on my camera yet.
August 10th, 2015
Wonderful!

Multiple exposures in camera are a complete mystery to me. In fact, I don't even know if my camera will do it. Must investigate. But this looks lovely...very mysterious, ethereal and intriguing.

Intriguing image.
August 10th, 2015
Perfect comp. I usually use a tripod, but I doubt that would work for this amazing image.
August 10th, 2015
Very creative!

Nice capture ...

Clever, effective and very beautiful Taffy. Fav

@karlow75 I think you'll find it's easy to do it technically (button is in the menu screen under tools I think), but the hardest is figuring out where to frame the second layer. Then, in processing, you have to increase exposure and contrast to bring out both layers if you want more definition. The camera turns layer 1 into a very fuzzy and light background.
August 10th, 2015
This is wonderful! How nice that you can do it "in camera"!
August 10th, 2015
Great image and processing. Not sure if my camera cando that? Have to
read up on it.
August 10th, 2015
Very cool shot
August 10th, 2015
Beautifully processed. Fav!! 😃
August 10th, 2015
How fun to do a double exposure! Isn't it neat what our cameras can do? I love this composition.
August 10th, 2015
This image delights me no end. I am so glad I just happened to check out the Trending Page this morning and see it. Nice job!
August 10th, 2015
This is so cool and your execution is fabulous! love the colors!
August 10th, 2015
Wonderful effect Taffy, I do have it on my Camera but never used it, I will have to have a go.
August 10th, 2015
This is really eye-catching. Just love it! Fav.
August 10th, 2015
Incredible effect and allignment!I don't have that feature on my cameras and once tried multiple exposure with photomatix -absolute failure..
August 10th, 2015
Very interesting and creative! fav
August 10th, 2015
Very clever!! xx
August 10th, 2015
Neat capture! My camera can't do double exposures but my old film camera could and did when I did't remember to move the film forward. These were alwYs neat accidents. Love your recreation! Well done!
August 10th, 2015
Fascinating shot - have no clue how to do this but I sure like seeing what you do.
August 11th, 2015
Brilliant --:)
August 11th, 2015
Love your processing Taffy!
August 11th, 2015
Creative outcome for your double exposure. Your friend's garden has lots of color in it.
August 11th, 2015
Can't help you with processing questions but to me it seems easier to merge two photos rather than double-expose them. This looks fine though.
August 11th, 2015
What an awesome idea for a double exposure!!! This is both beautiful and creative!
August 11th, 2015
What fun! Sorry you had LR glitches. Missed seeing you
August 11th, 2015
Gorgeous! I absolutely love this! FAV!
August 11th, 2015
Very creative
August 11th, 2015
WOW...what a beautiful effect! Love this Taffy...well done.
August 11th, 2015
This looks so cool, and I love that idea of 2 exposures in camera. I might have to try this.
August 11th, 2015
@olivetreeann I actually do like the challenge of setting it up compositionally within the camera as I take the two shots. BUT, I admit it is very frustrating most of the time!
August 11th, 2015
I just think you get a better result out of camera. The only in camera one I took was a guy on a bike and I just stood still and he was moving. In photo shop you can move them around to get them lined up as you wish, you can use a mask to block out some of the things that you don't want and you can use blending modes. Seems the only way to go especially for what you are trying to do here. But if anyone can figure it out in camera it is you.
August 11th, 2015
How interesting this has turned out, I love how the red poppies look like stamens in the large flower. I wish my camera could do double exposures, I tried once on a Canon 5D and agree it takes practice to get it right.
August 11th, 2015
This is so cool. I love the way it turned out. I had no idea you could do in camera photos like this. FAV
August 11th, 2015
@elaine55 It's a bit of luck when you do this in camera as it's impossible to actually line up the shot. There may be a way to do it using LV that would allow me to see the previous image...lots to learn!
August 11th, 2015
Wow, what a great take on the black-eyed susan. fav Were the red flowers in the same field?
August 11th, 2015
@taffy a friend of mine does great double exposures, I would love to have that facility in camera.
August 12th, 2015
Congratulations on making the PP. Well deserved.
August 12th, 2015
@genealogygenie The field in the background was where I took both shots. It's actually a friend's garden. I took the broad view first (with the 105 macro), and then focused in for a macro of the single flower.
August 12th, 2015
This is very clever and very effective.
August 12th, 2015
Nicely done.
