I love hay bales and I love clouds, so I did a little drive/walk excursion around Beaver Island photographing the various fields with hay bales. This one was processed from three shots using Photomatix, then tweaked in Lightroom.
I've figured out that LR was not the problem but apparently my HD card is corrupted, even when reformatted. Or the camera does not want to photograph mushrooms, which seems less likely.
Posting early as we're going out to dinner (very nice!) with friends and then tomorrow is an early day volunteering at the school.
Thank you for your lovely comments on the red leaf sc shot! Much appreciated!
I have been looking for this shot ever since I got to Maine. I have see a few hay fields but nothing I could stop and capture. Maybe this weekend in Vermont?
Very nice composition and detail, thanks to the (very gentle) HDR processing. It looks so natural, I would not have guessed that it was HDR. I like the touch of green in the foreground. Bales of hay in my vicinity always means lifeless yellow-brown foreground!
I started to comment last night just before bed then lost it. It reminds me of some shots I think you and Eric @ericdibosco did last year. The HDR has really brought out the tones, nicely done.
I love these too, but it's a bit of a challenge to find them not covered in black plastic hereabouts! Although I did some some pink-plastic covered ones in Scotland this summer!!! Lovely capture. Wonderful definition and a great sky.
this is fantastic, agree love shots of hay bales. hoping to get some shots of them when we get home from vacation but I fear the fields will have been all hayed.
What a wonderful shot, Taffy. I love all the detail. I think something is wrong with my card too. Photos uploaded are pixilated on and off. FAV for this photo.
I really must learn how to do this and stop being lazy! The results are so good when done well like this Taffy with such great detail in the hay and sky.
@lyndemc I wish the field had some of those creatures! They would have been a fun addition to the shot. They used to have sheep but I haven't seen them lately. Thanks for the lovely comment!
I cannot believe it has been this long since I viewed and commented on your shots (seriously, where have I been?!!!....not anyplace fun, that's for sure!)....this is wonderful, and such a subtle HDR. I agree that a few black and white cows would have been a nice addition, but it is also great in its simplicity of the rolled up hay bales! FAV for sure!
