Many many many thanks for all your warm comments and fav on the train station shot from Indianapolis' Union Station. It made it to PP today! You made my day!
@skstein Thanks, Sandy! I was actually IN the elevator -- one of those glass walled ones that looks out over the lobby atrium. The hotel had an open lobby, so the stripes are the walls of the walkways to the rooms. The angled black thing at the bottom was a long escalator -- enlarged there's one person on the left side moving down.
I was thinking that this looked like a zebra pattern when viewing the small image on latest page. You've titled it well. Great lines. Gives us lots to look at!
This reminds me of those optical drawings, where if you look long enough you see something different. I find there is a conflict on the focal point. The lines on the sides take you to the window in the distance, but because the detail in the centre of the bottom of your image acts as a pattern breaker the eye darts to that as well. The image works quite differently if you crop the bottom half.
Fantastic shot. I can't stop looking at it. But now I must move on. Love he pov, the strong B&W contrast, all the lines , and how amazing it is. Yes it was dizzying at first but I felt compelled to keep looking.
I'm glad Iris noted that it moved while you're scrolling - thought I was nuts with all the lines messing with me. Love the sharp contrasts and the sharp lines. This is just fascinating.
@bob65 Thanks for the comment, Bob, and suggestion for cropping. This was fun to work with -- there were so many different choices to make. As it was, I cropped quite a bit from the top.
I stayed at this hotel for a nursing conference - this is so neat with the light and dark lines! I agree with Darlene- you are one amazing photographer!
I don't want to see how it connects
The lines and geometry of it take you in completely
