I decided I'd been sitting too much today so walked to the grocery store instead of driving. Took my camera and this was the view as I walked through the park on my way home. I didn't have a tripod with me and want to go back to do a long exposure. I had to balance the camera sitting on the ground to keep it from moving as best I could.
Thanks for your wonderful comments on the subway scene! I really appreciated your thoughts -- about the framing and each frame having a different story, for example.
I love this one even better with the lights reflected in the squares. I am surprised you can go out at night and walk through the park with your camera and feel safe enough to sit on the ground to take this. We're you alone Taffy? Whenever I have gone out with my camera at night I have always been very nervous and I live on the outskirts of a small town. Is it just me? Fav for your great image!
That is such a wonderful sculpture....just love the way it frames the citiscape beyond....it's becoming one of my favorite new sculptures....I think I will have to requisition the city of SD to get one for us!! ;-))) Or, maybe visit Chicago!
If you balanced the camera on the ground which is so good - you have to get down to look through the lens! I find this the most difficult part! Super shot of an interesting sculpture! fav
Taffy, this is absolutely fantastic, just love it. Chock-a-block with interesting shapes, angles, lines and colours. Your pov is just right for the subject, just wish my metal knees would let me get down low occasionally. Fav definitely. I must join the chorus of not feeling safe walking in a park at night, they're pitch-black round here.
@pixiemac It's only a few blocks from our house -- about a 10 minute walk and it's really a small park, not something anyone outside the neighborhood is likely to go by. But when you're here, we can easily go over there!
@maggiemae You're right re the camera on the ground. My huge decision was figuring out how to get down and once down, back up, without hurting myself or looking like a fool!
@leananiemand Thanks for the lovely lovely comment! But oh gosh, so not true. Your work is just amazing! Narrative mixed with travelogue -- really inspiring stuff, actually!
@newbank I forgot to tag you above...really, it was perfectly safe since it wasn't that late. And there were people around. I just have to be alert walking home going by areas a little less crowded. But that time of day is fine.
Wow, you are so talented. I especially love the way the light reflects on the frames it reminds me of windows looking at the city with different eye gate perceptions. FAV
Congrats!
